Fri Mar 28 | 17:55 | Trendon Watford Will Play Against The Clippers |
Brooklyn Nets forward Trendon Watford (illness) is available on Friday versus the Clippers. He was listed as questionable heading into this one. But the 24-year-old is good to go. Watford had a slow start to the 2023-24 campaign. However, he's carved out a nice role for himself of late, averaging 11.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 11 games in March. With that said, D'Angelo Russell and Cameron Johnson are available, so Watford's fantasy outlook isn't as favorable, although he still warrants some streaming consideration from managers in need of an injury replacement. |

Fri Mar 14 | 22:15 | Trendon Watford Will Miss Saturday's Game |
Brooklyn Nets forward/center Trendon Watford (hamstring) will not play on Saturday against the Boston Celtics. The matchup marks the beginning of a back-to-back set, and Watford will exit the lineup on Saturday to manage a left hamstring injury. Brooklyn's frontcourt will be extremely thin on Saturday, meaning fantasy managers can expect to see plenty of Day'Ron Sharpe and Jalen Wilson. There is a good chance Watford will return to the mix on Sunday when the Nets finish the weekend's back-to-back against the Atlanta Hawks. |

Mon Jan 27 | 20:43 | Trendon Watford Nearing Return To The Court |
Brooklyn Nets forward Trendon Watford (hamstring) is reportedly trending in the right direction and could return to the court this week. The 24-year-old has been sidelined since mid-December due to a left hamstring strain. The Nets are considering Watford as day-to-day, which means he could return to the court on Wednesday or Saturday. He has missed over 20 games in a row, so fantasy managers should expect Watford to have a significant minutes limit when he does return. Once back to full speed, Watford could offer some low-end streaming value, but for now he's just worth monitoring. |

Sat Jan 4 | 17:23 | Trendon Watford Resumes On-Court Workouts, Will Be Re-Evaluated In One Week |
Brooklyn Nets forward Trendon Watford (hamstring) has resumed individual on court exercises and will be re-evaluated for his hamstring strain in one week. Watford has missed each of Brooklyn's last eight games. When healthy he has averaged 8.3 PPG and 2.8 RPG. With such limited run when active, his fantasy impact has been minimal when healthy and barely noticeable when out. That may change when he's active again given Brooklyn's willingness to trade most of its current roster during its rebuild, but there will still need to be some caution taken given his injury-riddled season. Until Watford returns, expect Ziaire Williams and Day'Ron Sharpe to get more time at forward for the Nets. |

Tue Dec 17 2024 | 09:30 | Trendon Watford Limited By Hamstring Injury Monday |
Brooklyn Nets forward/center Trendon Watford (hamstring) could not complete Monday's contest against Cleveland. He was ruled out for the rest of the game early in the third quarter because of left hamstring soreness. Watford posted eight points in 10 minutes before his premature exit. The 24-year-old missed the start of the season with a left hamstring strain, so this isn't a new issue for him. Watford has contributed 8.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in 16.1 minutes off the bench. Noah Clowney and Day'Ron Sharpe should get additional action on the Nets frontcourt if Watford has to sit on the sidelines for a bit. |

Sun Nov 24 2024 | 20:22 | Trendon Watford Available Versus Kings |
Brooklyn Nets forward/center Trendon Watford (adductor) has been upgraded from probable to available for Sunday's clash with Sacramento. Watford only recently made his season debut and will suit up for a fourth consecutive game. The 24-year-old has so far averaged 6.7 points and 3.0 rebounds in 16.0 minutes. Dorian Finney-Smith's (ankle) absence on Sunday might led to Watford having a larger role, but he's not somebody fantasy managers should rush to grab. |

Fri Nov 1 2024 | 15:57 | Trendon Watford Available For Friday Night's Game Against Chicago |
Brooklyn Nets forward Trendon Watford (hamstring) is available for Friday night's matchup against the Chicago Bulls. This will be Watford's season debut as he's been ruled out of action since early October. It should be expected that Watford will come off the bench in his return as he did almost all of last season for Brooklyn when he averaged 6.9 PPG in 13.6 minutes. Fantasy managers should temper their expectations and DFS managers can likely find better options if looking for a plug-and-play on Friday night. Jalen Wilson has been receiving the most minutes off Brooklyn's bench and his averaging 8.2 PPG and likely will be a better fantasy option on Friday, though Watford will likely eat into his minutes as the season progresses. |

Wed Oct 23 2024 | 08:15 | Trendon Watford Unavailable For Season Opener |
Brooklyn Nets forward/center Trendon Watford (hamstring) will not play against Atlanta on Wednesday. Watford was ruled out for two weeks on Oct. 7 but hasn't recovered in time to be ready for the season opener. His next chance to play will come on Friday versus Orlando, although it's unclear if Watford is even close to being game-ready. With Day'Ron Sharpe (hamstring) also unavailable, Noah Clowney will join Claxton in an attempt to outbattle Atlanta's one-two punch of Clint Capela and Onyeka Okongwu in the paint. |

Mon Oct 7 2024 | 16:27 | Trendon Watford Out For At Least Two Weeks |
Brooklyn Nets forward Trendon Watford (hamstring) had a strained hamstring confirmed on Monday at the same time that teammate Day'Ron Sharpe (hamstring) received confirmation for a more severe hamstring strain. Watford is expected to be re-evaluated in two weeks compared to the six-week timeline that Sharpe received. The center and power forward spots are where the Nets are the thinnest, so Watford will likely receive added opportunities when he returns. For now, Noah Clowney and Ben Simmons will probably see some added minutes in the preseason along with Ziaire Williams. |

Fri Oct 4 2024 | 15:29 | Trendon Watford Battling Injury Ahead Of Preseason |
Brooklyn Nets power forward Trendon Watford is being evaluated for a hamstring injury. Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez has announced that several players are dealing with hamstring issues before the start of preseason, and Watford is among them. Nicolas Claxton (hamstring) has already been ruled out for Tuesday's preseason opener, and Watford could join him on the sidelines along with Day'Ron Sharpe (hamstring). Watford played well to close out the season last year, but he was limited to only 13.6 minutes per game across the campaign. A good preseason would help Watford in a battle for a regular spot in the rotation, but unfortunately, he's dealing with an injury even before the action has started. |

Sat Oct 21 2023 | 07:00 | NBA Draft 2023: Second-Round Rookies to Watch Early |
It's funny that every year at the NBA Draft, once the end of the guaranteed money and live appearances arrives at the end of the first round, everybody tunes out and refers to the 60th pick as "Mr. Irrelevant." That's not very accurate though, is it?Speaking historically, the title of "Mr. Irrelevant" could just as easily be applied to each pick in the draft, as organizations differ greatly in their evaluation of talent and their own needs, particularly in a year without the NCAA tournament. The nickname just doesn't reflect how basketball works anymore. Executives strategically stockpile second-round draft picks for the less burdensome financial obligations, and organizations in rebuilding mode get super creative to field a respectable team on a budget.Particularly in the NBA where worldwide talent is plentiful and positional lines continue to fade, the opportunity is everything: in the right situation, the right under-the-radar player can make an immediate, poignant statement. With professional development leagues for 16-18-year-olds, an ever-expanding set of domestic/international opportunities due to the sheer growth of basketball, and widespread NIL rights for college athletes, players of all levels and localities are starting to get their due exposure and now have enough freedom to hone their skills in a place, and at a pace, that fits best with their path to the NBA.  IntroductionI am inherently skeptical and distrusting of scouting from the high school level to pre-Draft. That's why in this annual article, I tend to favor overlooked college players (love the mid-majors/non-power conferences) with either well-rounded, polished games or specific statistical specialties. We are going to discuss a handful of 2023 second-round picks and undrafted free agent signees who, given their individual skillsets and circumstances, warrant the attention of Fantasy Basketball Managers as potential high-impact rookies for the 2023-24 campaign who can quietly be acquired on clearance once they start showing signs of emergence. As I will frequently emphasize and reiterate: in 2023, there is very little difference between the vast majority of second-round draft picks and undrafted free agents-- it always all comes down to the skillsets they possess, their capacity for growth, and the situations they've landed in.Seasons will be made and broken with early identification of the diamond-in-the-rough rookies. I used to list out the many examples from the past season in this introduction portion, but we are now in a beautiful era where there are just too many to count. There is also very little separating the featured players below and those dubbed "Honorable Mentions"--so put in the work and keep an eye out throughout the regular season for who is receiving and seizing their opportunities.  |
Fri Jun 30 2023 | 13:00 | Trail Blazers Waive Trendon Watford |
Portland Trail Blazers forward Trendon Watford is getting waived after spending the last two seasons with the team. First reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Watford will become an unrestricted free agent that possesses some good upside on a cheaper contract for teams looking for role players. The 22-year-old averaged 7.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per contest across 110 games in two years. Watford will likely have a few teams after him, but his fantasy value won't grow much unless he goes to a rebuilding team. |

Thu Apr 6 2023 | 15:22 | Trendon Watford In Danger Of Missing Another Game |
Portland Trail Blazers forward/center Trendon Watford (ankle) could be out for a second consecutive game, with the team listing him as questionable for Thursday's matchup versus San Antonio. The 22-year-old has put in very impressive performances in recent weeks, but he has suffered a sprained ankle and the team has no reason whatsoever to push for his return, with Portland out of playoff contention and simply going through the motions in the last few games. John Butler Jr. and Jabari Walker will continue as the backup bigs behind Drew Eubanks if Watford remains sidelined. The two combined for 26 points and 11 rebounds last time out against Memphis. |

Sun Apr 2 2023 | 14:01 | Trendon Watford Expected To Play Against Minnesota |
Portland Trail Blazers forward Trendon Watford (ankle) is expected to play on Sunday versus Minnesota. The 22-year-old is battling a sprained right ankle. However, the Trail Blazers are shorthanded, so he should be out there in some capacity. Watford has averaged 11.1 points and 7.4 rebounds in eight starts this season. But with Damian Lillard (calf), Jerami Grant (quadriceps), Jusuf Nurkic (knee), and Anfernee Simons (foot) all out, he will see extra chances to produce, assuming he receives a full workload. |

Fri Dec 16 2022 | 20:23 | Drew Eubanks, Trendon Watford Available Friday |
Portland Trail Blazers forward/center Drew Eubanks (tooth) and forward/center Trendon Watford (Achilles) are both available for Friday's contest against Dallas. This should be a great matchup for Eubanks and Watford, with Dallas lacking size and very vulnerable because of it, although they likely won't be able to play a big role behind Jusuf Nurkic and Jerami Grant. The Bosnian Beast has been surprisingly durable this season, which has made it very tough for Eubanks to log consistent minutes, and Watford's situation has been even worse at the club, although he was also held back by injury early in the campaign. |

Sun Jul 17 2022 | 20:08 | Trendon Watford Leads Blazers To Summer League Title |
Portland Trail Blazers forward Trendon Watford helped lead the team to an 85-77 victory in the Summer League championship game on Sunday. He was named the Championship Game MVP for his efforts as he compiled 19 points, seven rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block. He shot 7-for-15 from the field and 3-for-6 from three-point range in the game. Watford went undrafted out of LSU in 2021, but went on to play in 48 games with the Blazers last year. He showed some promising flashes as he averaged 7.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game while shooting 53.2% from the field. He should be a part of the team's rotation for the 2022-23 season. |

Sun Mar 27 2022 | 08:12 | Trendon Watford Sustains Knee Injury Saturday |
Portland Trail Blazers power forward/center Trendon Watford (knee) was able to accrue a double-double during Saturday's loss to the Rockets, but it came with a price: a bone contusion to his left femur. The injury will keep Watford shut down for at least one week, ruling him out for the team's next three games. Since seeing his minutes rise during March, Watford has emerged as a solid contributor for Portland, averaging 15.4 points and 6.7 boards across 13 contests. His injury further complicates a rotation that has been decimated by injuries, with Greg Brown III (eye) and Drew Eubanks the two likeliest candidates to see increased frontcourt roles without Watford available. |
