Fri Apr 1819:20Lauri Markkanen Wants To Stay With The Jazz
Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen would like to remain with the club. "Definitely," said Markkanen when asked if he wants to stay in Utah. "I love being in Utah." He also won't be phased by anticipated trade rumors this offseason. "We'll see what happens in summer, there's things you can't control, but I love being here and working out with the guys that we have and building this thing." The 27-year-old had a down season from a production standpoint in 2024-25, averaging 19.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 34.6% shooting from behind the arc. He was also limited to 47 games. However, with the Jazz finishing the 2024-25 campaign with one of the worst records in the National Basketball Association, it's safe to say he could have played more had the team stayed competitive. No matter where Markkanen ends up next season, he has All-Star potential. Still, he's the best player in Utah, so he'll likely be the most productive by staying with the Jazz. Markkanen agreed to a four-year, $220 million extension last offseason, potentially keeping him on the roster through 2028-29.

Tue Mar 2510:34Lauri Markkanen Will Not Play Against Grizzlies
Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen (illness) will miss additional time and has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The 2023 All-Star will sit out a fourth consecutive game. It's the second straight game he will miss due to an illness. Utah has no interest in winning and will continue to give opportunities to younger players for the remainder of the season. Markkanen's absence opens the door for Kyle Filipowski, Brice Sensabaugh, and Kenyon Martin Jr. to take on larger roles in the rotation. Filipowski stands out as the best fantasy option, as he has joined the starting unit, where he averages 13.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists.

Fri Mar 2115:21Lauri Markkanen Set To Miss Another Game On Friday
Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen (personal) will miss his 24th game of the season on Friday as the team has ruled him out for personal reasons against the Boston Celtics. The youth movement has been in full effect for the Jazz as they try to inch closer to better odds for the number-one draft pick. John Collins (ankle) has also been ruled out of this game, so the starting frontcourt will likely continue to feature Walker Kessler, Kyle Filipowski, and Cody Williams. Filipowski would be the best streaming option as he's enjoyed a great March with averages of 15.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 52.9% from the floor and 43.1% from three.

Wed Mar 1919:07Lauri Markkanen Out Against Wizards
Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen (personal) will not play in Wednesday's contest against the Washington Wizards. He is tending to a personal matter and will exit the lineup after playing in each of the last four games. Brice Sensabaugh, Kyle Filipowski, and Micah Potter could all see an uptick in minutes due to Markkanen's absence. Sensabaugh can heat up in a hurry and could do big damage against a team that allows a league-high 120.5 points per game.

Jordan Clarkson (foot) also won't be in the lineup, leaving Utah without two of their five leading scorers. Fri Feb 2813:42Lauri Markkanen Ruled Out Friday Against Timberwolves
Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen (back) has been ruled out for Friday's matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves for injury management on his lower back. The dynamic 27-year-old has been dealing with a plethora of injuries since joining the Jazz, and they tend to lean on the more careful side since they're not competing for the playoffs. If John Collins (back) plays, he should see added opportunities, otherwise, Kenyon Martin Jr. and Brice Sensabaugh should continue seeing starter level minutes. The former posted 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists in their last game against the Sacramento Kings.

Thu Feb 2720:00Lauri Markkanen Tagged As Questionable For Friday
Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen (back) is listed as questionable ahead of Friday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Markkanen has missed each of the last two games due to a lingering back issue. Before that, Markkanen was on a hot streak with 20 points or more in three of his last four games. The Jazz are banged up right now, so they'll likely ask Markkanen to do more on offense if he's cleared to play. Otherwise, Cody Williams and Brice Sensabaugh will probably see more run on Friday. Neither are ideal fantasy options, but Sensabaugh is the better choice between the two.

Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen (back) has been ruled out ahead of Wednesday's game against the Sacramento Kings. He is set to miss his second game in a row due to a back issue. This puts the Jazz in a tough spot with John Collins (back) also sidelined and Walker Kessler (illness) considered questionable to play. The Jazz will likely ask Brice Sensabaugh and Kyle Filipowski to play bigger roles in the rotation. Both are worth looking at as streaming options, but Filipowski might be the slightly better streaming option after posting a double-double on Monday.

Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen (back) is listed as questionable for Monday's contest against the Portland Trail Blazers. However, the questionable designation leaves Markkanen's status up in the air again. Walker Kessler (illness) is also questionable on the injury report. Tue Feb 420:20Lauri Markkanen Listed As Questionable For Wednesday
Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen (back) is listed as questionable ahead of Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors. Markkanen seemed fine during Monday's game against the Indiana Pacers. The 27-year-old has been dealing with a lingering back issue for some time, but he has played over 30 minutes per game in each of the last three contests. The Jazz aren't exactly playing for anything this season, so opting to rest Markkanen for younger players isn't shocking. Brice Sensabaugh and Kyle Filipowski should see more action in the rotation if Markkanen is out. Both players are possible low-end streaming options if Markkanen heads to the bench.

Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen (back) has been removed from the injury report ahead of Thursday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Markkanen sat out on Tuesday, but it sounds like that was a planned absence for injury maintenance. The 27-year-old recently returned from injury and it looks like the Jazz wanted to give him some time to rest following Monday's contest. Fantasy managers should expect Markkanen to have his normal workload on Thursday. Brice Sensabaugh and Kyle Filipowski should see reduced roles with Markkanen back in the mix on Thursday.
