Thu Jun 1220:55Dorian Finney-Smith Undergoes Ankle Surgery
According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, Los Angeles Lakers forward Dorian Finney-Smith (ankle) underwent surgery on his left ankle. He is expected to be ready to go by training camp. The veteran has been burdened by a "lingering left-ankle injury" for a few years. However, the procedure should allow him to play "pain-free" moving ahead. Finney-Smith began the 2024-25 campaign with the Brooklyn Nets before being dealt to the Lakers as a part of the package for D'Angelo Russell. He appeared in 43 games for Los Angeles, starting 20 and averaging 7.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 39.8% shooting from behind the three-point line. The 32-year-old has until June 29 to decide on his $15.4 million player option for 2025-26. He could also end up signing an extension. With that in mind, the Lakers will likely look to retain him, although he'll draw attention if he hits free agency. As far as Finney-Smith's fantasy outlook is concerned, he's never been a consistent producer on the offensive end. However, he has had some potent outings over the years for fantasy managers, so that shouldn't change no matter where he ends up next season.

Mon Apr 720:10Dorian Finney-Smith Questionable To Play Tuesday
Los Angeles Lakers forward/center Dorian Finney-Smith (ankle) is on the injury report with a questionable designation ahead of Tuesday's encounter against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He could be absent from the lineup for the first time since March 20. However, Finney-Smith does not appear to be dealing with anything serious, with the team listing his injury as left ankle effusion. The Lakers may simply look to manage Finney-Smith's workload, as another game is scheduled for Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericks. Jarred Vanderbilt might see more burn in the frontcourt in Tuesday's game, and there may even be another Markieff Morris sighting, considering Jaxson Hayes could be the only regular starter in the lineup.

Tue Feb 1121:04Dorian Finney-Smith Unavailable On Wednesday
Los Angeles Lakers forward Dorian Finney-Smith (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Wednesday's game against the Utah Jazz. He is nursing an ankle issue, so the Lakers have decided to hold him out during the final game before the All-Star break. His absence should free up additional playing time for Dalton Knecht, Shake Milton, and Jarred Vanderbilt. None of them are great streaming choices, but Knecht probably has the most upside out of the three. Fantasy managers should expect Finney-Smith to be back in the rotation after the break.

Sun Dec 29 202414:08Dorian Finney-Smith Headed To Lakers
The Brooklyn Nets have traded forward Dorian Finney-Smith and guard Shake Milton to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday. In exchange, the Nets will receive guard D'Angelo Russell, forward Maxwell Lewis, and three second round picks. It's not shocking to see the rebuilding Nets move the 31-year-old forward. Finney-Smith doesn't put up flashy stats, but he's a solid 3-and-D player. It's unclear how he'll fit into the Lakers rotation. A team that already has plenty of forwards including, LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, Cam Reddish, and Dalton Knecht. Finney-Smith has been averaging 28 minutes per game with the Nets and that's likely to dip with the move to the Lakers. Milton is likely also going to see a reduced role, but overall this move does give the Lakers more depth.
