Mon Jun 216:09Sam Aldegheri Joins Big-League Club
The Los Angeles Angels announced on Monday that they recalled left-handed pitching prospect Sam Aldegheri from Double-A Rocket City. Aldegheri, the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will make his return to the big leagues after debuting in 2024. The 23-year-old southpaw only made three starts for the Halos last year and allowed 12 runs (seven earned) on 15 hits (two homers allowed) while walking 10 and striking out 10 in 13 innings of work. The Italian hurler gets the call after going 2-2 with a 4.34 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 48:27 K:BB in 47 2/3 innings over his nine starts at Rocket City this year. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder has an intriguing four-pitch mix and has the ability to generate plenty of swings and misses, but he'll need to show much better control of his arsenal to have sustained success in the big leagues. It's unclear what role Aldegheri will have with the Angels now that he's back in the big leagues.

This was a much-needed bounce-back outing for the southpaw, as he allowed 13 runs over his last 15 2/3 innings of work (three starts). During this stretch, Aldegheri struck out 12 batters but allowed a hefty 11 walks. Last summer, Aldegheri made his MLB debut and tossed 13 innings to the tune of a 4.85 ERA with a 1.92 WHIP. Fri May 209:05Sam Aldegheri Strikes Out Season-High Eight Batters
Los Angeles Angels left-handed pitching prospect Sam Aldegheri tossed seven shutout innings during Thursday's start against Double-A Knoxville. He allowed just five hits and three walks. He struck out a season-best eight batters. This was a nice bounce-back outing for Aldegheri as he allowed five runs and six hits in his previous start. Through 21 1/3 innings of work with Double-A this summer, Aldegheri has posted a modest 3.37 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP. He has struck out 24 batters but showed weak command of his pitches as he has served up 12 walks. Fantasy managers should expect Aldegheri to push for a Triple-A promotion in the coming weeks if he can build off Thursday's start. He made his MLB debut in 2024 and logged 13 innings to the tune of a 4.85 ERA.
