Fri May 214:18Valente Bellozo Recalled Ahead Of Friday's Start
Miami Marlins right-handed pitcher Valente Bellozo was recalled ahead of his start on Friday evening against the Athletics. The 25-year-old has already logged eight innings in the major leagues and held a solid 2.25 ERA with a 1.63 WHIP. He struck out six batters and served up four walks. Last summer, Bellozo made his MLB debut and logged 68 2/3 innings to the tune of a 3.67 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP. Bellozo has enjoyed a strong start to the campaign at Triple-A Jacksonville as he has held a stellar 1.40 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP across 19 1/3 innings. Fantasy managers in deeper NL-only formats should consider Bellozo as a streaming option, as he has enjoyed success earlier this season. However, he may not be given an extensive workload, which could limit his upside.

Thu Apr 1017:04Valente Bellozo Sent To Triple-A
The Miami Marlins announced that they optioned right-hander Valente Bellozo to Triple-A Jacksonville after Wednesday's game to make room for right-hander Sandy Alcantara, who was reinstated from the paternity list on Thursday. Alcantara was placed on the paternity list early this week, and Bellozo was brought up to make a spot start on Monday against the New York Mets. The 25-year-old took the loss in that outing, allowing an earned run on five hits while walking two and striking out two in just 3 2/3 innings. In his first start of the year on March 29 against the Pirates, the Mexican hurler had a no-decision while giving up an earned run, walking two and striking out four in 4 1/3 innings. Bellozo will surely make more spot starts for the Marlins this year, but for now he'll head back to Jacksonville and continue to develop. Alcantara will make his next start on Saturday against the Washington Nationals.

Mon Apr 717:16Valente Bellozo Called Up And Starting On Monday Against Mets
The Miami Marlins recalled right-hander Valente Bellozo from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, and he will make the start in the team's series opener against the division-rival New York Mets at Citi Field. Bellozo is making a spot start in place of right-hander Sandy Alcantara, who was placed on the paternity list on Monday. The 25-year-old Mexican hurler will be making his second start of the year and just his 15th career MLB start after making his debut with the Marlins in 2024. Bellozo looked good in his season debut on March 29 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing just one earned run while walking two and striking out four in 4 1/3 innings. However, the matchup isn't as good this time around for those getting crazy in DFS formats, and he's likely to head back to Jacksonville after the start.

Tue Mar 2523:14Valente Bellozo Will Be Miami's Fifth Starter
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Valente Bellozo has made the team's Opening Day roster, per manager Clayton McCullough, locking down the final rotation spot. The Marlins are dealing with a rash of pitcher injuries again, with Ryan Weathers (forearm) and Edward Cabrera (blister) both expected to begin the season on the injured list, so after being optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville on March 14, the right-hander will instead get another shot to prove himself. The 5-foot-10 hurler got a taste of the majors last year, making 13 starts and posting a 3.67 ERA (5.73 FIP), 1.31 WHIP, and a 7.8 percent K-BB% across 68 2/3 innings of work. Bellozo recorded a gaudy 9.45 ERA this spring after allowing 14 earned runs on 19 hits and five walks while striking out 13 batters in 13 1/3 frames. Unless in desperate need of pitching help, most redraft managers may want to see the Mexican pitcher have some success before rostering him.
