Tue May 1323:00Bubba Chandler Strikes Out Eight In Five Shutout Innings On Tuesday
Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Bubba Chandler threw five scoreless innings on Tuesday, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out eight. It was a good bounce-back outing after allowing three earned runs on five hits and four walks in only 2 2/3 innings his last time out. The performance lowered the 22-year-old's ERA for the season to 1.91 with a 1.00 WHIP and 49 strikeouts over 33 innings pitched. He threw a season-high 86 pitches in the contest, continuing a progression toward a major league workload. The righty began the year as the Pirates' top prospect, and while that is still the case, the former third-round draft pick moved from No.12 overall up to the second-overall prospect in baseball in MLB.com's latest refresh of its Top 100 Prospects list. He remains a top stash candidate in redraft leagues and should make his way to the majors within the next month or so.

Wed May 723:23Bubba Chandler Ineffective In Latest Start On Wednesday
Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Bubba Chandler was uncharacteristically ineffective for Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday, lasting just 2 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five. The performance may temporarily mute the calls for the Pirates to bring him up, but it doesn't change the assertion that he is ready for the big leagues. Even after this rough outing, the righty still owns a strong 2.25 ERA and 0.93 WHIP along with 41 strikeouts in 28 innings pitched. Look for the Pirates' top-ranked prospect (MLB No. 12) to get back on track in his next start and be in the majors by mid-June. The 6-foot-3 hurler remains a top stash candidate in redraft leagues.

Thu May 123:12Bubba Chandler Strikes Out Nine In Dominant Start On Thursday
Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Bubba Chandler was dominant again in Thursday's start for Triple-A Indianapolis, yielding just one run on three hits and one walk while striking out nine batters over five innings pitched. The righty's pitch count hit 71, and he also hit 100.4 mph on the radar gun. Through six starts, Pittsburgh's top prospect owns a 1.42 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, and a 31.9 percent K-BB% over 25 1/3 IP. MLB's 14th-ranked prospect is ready for a tougher test in the big leagues. Looking ahead, if they would like to have him debut at home, the fifth spot in the rotation would have a turn against Atlanta on May 11, or they could wait for a seven-game home stand against the Reds and the Brewers that begins on May 19. Regardless, the 6-foot-3 hurler is the top pitching stash for fantasy managers who can spare a bench spot or have an available NA spot.

Mon Apr 2823:05Bubba Chandler Tosses Five Shutout Innings In Latest Start
Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Bubba Chandler tossed five shutout innings in his latest start at Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday, allowing just one hit and no walks while striking out four. Worth noting, the righty got up to 70 pitches, and is about as stretched out as he needs to be in order to get that call to the majors. Pittsburgh's current fifth man in the rotation, reliever-turned-starter Carmen Mlodzinski, has allowed three or more earned runs in four of his five starts and hasn't gone longer than five innings in any of them. Chandler owns a 1.33 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, and a 28.4 percent K-BB%, and although Triple-A competition is not the same as the major leagues, MLB's 14th-ranked prospect would be an upgrade for the Pirates' rotation. Those in need of pitching help with an available roster spot should consider stashing the 6-foot-3 hurler ahead of his eventual call-up, which is expected to happen by the end of May.

Tue Apr 823:00Bubba Chandler Strikes Out Eight In Four Shutout Innings At Triple-A
Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Bubba Chandler made his second start of the season for Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, tossing four innings of shutout ball, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out eight batters. The righty was dialed in, throwing 46 of his 61 pitches for strikes (75%). Through two starts and six-and-two-thirds innings pitched, the Pirates' top prospect has yet to allow a run on two hits and a 5:12 BB:K. Back of the rotation guys Andrew Heaney and Carmen Mlodzinski pitched well enough in their last outings to potentially hold off a Chandler promotion for a little while longer, so perhaps the 22-year-old gets another start or two at Triple-A, but it may soon be time to consider stashing the 6-foot-3 hurler ahead of his inevitable call-up.

Fri Apr 409:34Bubba Chandler Tosses 2 2/3 Scoreless Frames In Season Debut
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitching prospect Bubba Chandler tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings during his regular-season debut on Thursday afternoon. Chandler struck out four and served up three free passes. He allowed just one hit. Chandler was competing for a spot on the Opening Day roster but fell just short in the competition. However, it appears the Pirates are somewhat limiting his workload in the minor leagues, which suggests he may have a significant role in the big leagues when he makes his debut. Last summer, the right-hander logged 39 1/3 innings at Triple-A. He posted a stellar 1.83 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP. He held a 15:54 BB:K and allowed just two long balls. Even though fellow pitching prospect Thomas Harrington got the call to the majors before Chandler, fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on his progression, as he could be a must-start option when he reaches the Steel City.
