Fri Jun 13 | 14:13 | Ryan Ritter Sitting Out on Friday |
Colorado Rockies rookie shortstop Ryan Ritter is not in the team's starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the hosting Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. Veteran Orlando Arcia will start at the 6 and hit seventh against Braves right-hander Bryce Elder. This will be Ritter's first day off since being called up from the minors on June 6 to replace the injured Ezequiel Tovar (oblique) as Colorado's starting shortstop. The 24-year-old has gone 6-for-24 (.250) with two triples, four RBI and a run scored in his first six major-league games. Arcia lost his starting job with the Braves earlier this year before being cut and latching on with the Rockies. In nine games in Colorado, he's gone 6-for-30 with a home run, four RBI and a run scored. The veteran shortstop was an All-Star for Atlanta in 2023 but has fallen off considerably since then and should be avoided as a DFS sleeper. |

Sat Jun 7 | 07:29 | Ryan Ritter Knocks Triple in MLB Debut |
Colorado Rockies shortstop prospect Ryan Ritter went 1-for-4 with a triple and a strikeout during his MLB debut on Friday evening against the New York Mets. Ritter got the start at shortstop and was batting in the six-hole. In the fifth inning, Ritter would tally his first hit in the majors, which was a triple off New York right-hander Kodai Senga. The Rockies promoted their No. 12-ranked prospect earlier on Friday in a corresponding move that placed Ezequiel Tover (oblique) on the injured list. Ritter opened the 2025 campaign by making his Triple-A debut and looked quite comfortable. Through his first 52 games at the top level of the minor leagues, the infielder held a .305/.413/.635 slash line with 13 doubles, 16 home runs, and a 50:34 K:BB. With Tovar on the IL, Ritter should see close to an everyday role going forward and is worth adding in all standard leagues. |

Fri Jun 6 | 15:58 | Ryan Ritter Promoted to Major Leagues |
The Colorado Rockies are promoting infield prospect Ryan Ritter to the major leagues. In a corresponding move, the Rockies are placing shortstop Ezequiel Tovar (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain. Ritter is currently considered the No. 12-ranked prospect in the Colorado system on MLB.com. The 24-year-old made his Triple-A debut at the start of the campaign and has performed at a high level. Through 52 total games, the infielder has posted a stellar .302/.413/.635 slash line with 13 doubles, 16 home runs, and three stolen bases. He has tallied 45 RBI and scored 44 runs. He was riding an 18-game hitting streak at Triple-A, where he posted an elite .443/.489/.987 line. With Tovar hitting the IL, fantasy managers should expect Ritter to see close to an everyday role in the starting nine. Given his high power upside, he is worth adding in all standard leagues. |

Thu May 29 | 23:54 | Ryan Ritter Hits 15th Homer on Thursday |
Colorado Rockies shortstop prospect Ryan Ritter went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in a 10-3 win against Triple-A Sugar Land. Ritter has had an outstanding season overall, but has been on another level in May. The 24-year-old is slashing .374/.436/.890 with 11 home runs in 91 at-bats. The quality of contact on the season looks strong, with a 42 percent hard-hit rate and 14 percent barrel rate. He's displayed a good approach to supplement his power, with a 17:10 K:BB in May as well. Ritter could be called up to help the Rockies' poor offense at some point in the summer to play second base. |

Wed May 28 | 06:08 | Ryan Ritter Goes Deep Twice on Tuesday |
Colorado Rockies infield prospect Ryan Ritter went 3-for-5 with two home runs during their contest on Tuesday evening against Triple-A Reno. Ritter launched three long balls on Monday evening and followed that performance up with another multi-home-run contest. This outing also extended his hitting streak to an impressive 12 games. During this stretch, the former fourth-round selection has been one of the most productive hitters at the Triple-A level. He has held an impressive .452/.492/1.053 slash line with nine doubles, two triples, and seven home runs. Fantasy managers should continue to closely monitor Ritter's production at Triple-A as he appears to be nearing his MLB debut. When he gets the call, he should take over the keystone, as Adael Amador has held a low .146 AVG. |

Mon May 26 | 23:33 | Ryan Ritter Slugs Three Homers, Extends Hit Streak to 11 Games |
Colorado Rockies infield prospect Ryan Ritter slugged three home runs for Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday, now with 12 on the year, which is tied for the second-most in all of Triple-A. The Rockies' 12th-ranked prospect has also now collected an extra-base hit in 10 consecutive games (regular hit streak at 11), pushing his season-long slash line to .284/.400/.580 and earning back-to-back Pacific Coast League (PCL) Player of the Week honors for his performance. With a 21.1 percent K% and strong 14.1 percent BB% to boot, the 24-year-old hasn't looked overmatched in his first run through Triple-A pitching. Ezequiel Tovar has shortstop blocked, but the longer second baseman Adael Amador scuffles in the big leagues, the better the chances of a call-up for Ritter become, and with the Rockies going nowhere this year, they may want to see what they have in their 2022 fourth-round draft pick. For now, however, Ritter isn't a stash candidate, but with a 20/20 season under his belt in 2023, he could eventually become a waiver wire add if all goes well. |
