Wed Mar 2608:04Yoniel Curet Hits 60-Day Injured List
Tampa Bay Rays right-handed pitching prospect Yoniel Curet (undisclosed) was placed on the 60-day injured list at Double-A. Curet likely suffered this injury during spring training and will now be several months away from returning to the bump. He logged only two innings during camp and tallied one punchout while allowing one run. Curet is ranked as the No. 14 best prospect in the system on MLB.com. Last season, the 22-year-old opened the campaign at the High-A level and logged 93 1/3 innings with a 3.28 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. He tallied 122 punchouts while serving up 49 free passes. He was then promoted to Double-A, where he tallied 37 punchouts across just 25 2/3 innings. He posted an impressive 1.75 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP. When he is cleared to return, he will likely begin his season at Double-A.

Fri Jul 12 202408:01Yoniel Curet Continues To Dominate High-A
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitching prospect Yoniel Curet tossed another stellar outing on Thursday evening. He pitched five shutout frames with seven punchouts. He allowed just two hits and four walks. Curet has not allowed an earned run in his past three starts and has been remarkable since surrendering seven earned runs on June 5. Since that outing, the 21-year-old has held a 0.30 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and a 13:38 BB:K ratio. Last summer at High-A the right-hander posted a 4.56 ERA and 1.52 WHIP but now holds a much improved 3.69 ERA and 1.31 WHIP this season that continues to drop. Curet is a budding star within the Rays system and is a name to keep a close eye on when he moves up to Double-A.
