Thu May 1518:38Dalton Rushing Making MLB Debut On Thursday
Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing will make his big league debut against the Athletics on Thursday. Rushing was called up on Wednesday, but didn't enter the contest. The 24-year-old will be behind the plate and bat seventh versus right-hander Osvaldo Bido on Thursday. Rushing is a top prospect, but isn't likely to have a ton of fantasy value right away. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has already said that Rushing is likely only going to start twice a week. Will Smith remains the primary catcher in Los Angeles, but he'll receive an off day on Thursday. Fantasy managers in deep leagues can take a look at Rushing, but he won't be a great option right away.

Wed May 1415:41Dodgers Calling Up Dalton Rushing
The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up prized catching prospect Dalton Rushing from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, according to sources. Rushing will get his first big-league promotion after tearing up the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League to the tune of a .308/.424/.514 slash line with a .938 OPS, five home runs, 17 RBI and 23 runs scored in 31 games played. The 24-year-old backstop has also appeared in eight games at first base and made a start in left field. Will Smith is locked in as L.A.'s starting catcher, so Rushing's primary path to playing time will likely be in the outfield with both Teoscar Hernandez (groin) and Tommy Edman (ankle) currently on the injured list. The 5-foot-11, 220-pounder is a well-rounded hitter with a short swing from the left side, giving him solid power at the catching position and strong on-base skills.

Wed May 723:45Dalton Rushing Homers, Collects Two RBI On Wednesday
Los Angeles Dodgers catching prospect Dalton Rushing went 2-for-3 witha walk and a home run for Triple-A OklahomaCity on Wednesday, collecting two RBI and scoring once in the process. The Dodgers' top prospect has now hit safely in eight of his last nine games, and is slashing .323/.435/.527 thanks in part to four home runs and a strong 15.3 percent walk rate. The 24-year-old continues to make his push for a big league debut, and although he is a catcher by trade, the team has had him play first base and some outfield so far this season in an effort to create multiple paths to playing time. Look for a call-up in June sometime, and those in NL-only and two-catcher leagues should consider stashing MLB's 26th-ranked prospect for his potential power production in a potent L.A. lineup, who carries eligibility at C and OF on Yahoo!.

Fri Apr 2500:24Dalton Rushing Homers In Four-Hit Game
Los Angeles Dodgers catching prospect Dalton Rushing notched his second four-hit game of the season, going 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, one RBI, and two runs scored on Thursday for Triple-A Oklahoma City. The home run was his third of the year, and the 5-foot-11 backstop is slashing .268/.377/.411 in 17 games. The former second-round draft pick has mostly played catcher this season, but with his path to the majors blocked by Will Smith, he's also logged some time at first base, left field, and DH, which should give the Dodgers some options in the way they could find at-bats when they finally decide to call him up. The Dodgers' top offensive prospect is one of the top prospect stashes for those looking for reinforcements.

Fri Apr 400:34Dalton Rushing Wears The Platinum Sombrero On Thursday
Los Angeles Dodgers catching prospect Dalton Rushing had a forgettable day at the plate on Thursday for Triple-A Oklahoma City, going 0-for-5 with five strikeouts. That makes nine punchouts in 21 plate appearances (42.9 percent) for the Dodgers' top-ranked offensive prospect. The formersecond-round draft pick hasn't had an overly high strikeout rate in the past, having come into the year with a 21.4 percent rate, so hopefully this is just the process of knocking some rust off at the beginningof the year. The 24-year-old is coming off a 26-home run campaign in 2024 and was solidly on a trajectory for a 2025 MLB debut, however, it might be a little later in the season than originally expected. The Louisville product is blockedfor playing timeat catcher with Will Smith locked up long-term, but Los Angeles had the 5-foot-11 backstop getting outfield reps lastyear in order to give him and his bat multiple paths to the big leagues. Assuming he gets back on track and debuts in 2025, he should have value in two-catcher leagues (with both C and OF eligibility on Yahoo) so long as he's getting regular at-bats.

Tue Mar 1121:21Dalton Rushing Assigned To Minor-League Camp
The Los Angeles Dodgers have assigned catching prospect Dalton Rushing to minor-league camp. Rushing was competing for a spot on the Opening Day roster but will instead return to the minor leagues to continue his development. At the plate, Rushing went 2-for-10 at the plate with a strong 9:4 BB:K across 13 games in the Cactus League. Last summer, Rushing opened the campaign at Double-A and posted a .270/.378/.512 slash line with 15 doubles and 17 long balls. He then made his Triple-A debut where he continued to swing a hot bat. Across his first 37 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, the backstop held a .273/.396/.511 line with nine round-trippers and a 26:34 BB:K. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his progression at Triple-A as he should push for an early 2025 MLB debut.
