Fri Jul 4 | 01:29 | Zach Neto Showcases Power and Speed on Thursday |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto led the charge on Thursday, going 3-for-5 with a homer, a double, a stolen base, and three runs scored in a 5-1 win over the Atlanta Braves. Neto was all over the scoresheet in this one, which was sorely needed after an 0-for-13 slump that dated back to when he jammed his shoulder on June 24. He hasn't looked quite right since then, but tonight he was back to his usual self. The 24-year-old is hitting .270 with 49 runs, 13 homers, 30 RBI, and 14 stolen bases while hitting at the top of a decent Angels lineup. His power/speed combo is perfect for fantasy, and it makes him a top-12 option at shortstop. He should be owned and started in virtually all fantasy formats. |

Tue Jul 1 | 16:31 | Zach Neto Returns to Tuesday's Lineup |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) is back at the 6 and is batting leadoff for Tuesday's series opener in Atlanta against Braves right-hander Grant Holmes. Neto jammed his surgically-repaired right shoulder while sliding into second base late last week and missed the next four games. However, he thankfully avoided any structural damage and will return to the lineup for Tuesday's series opener at Truist Park. The 24-year-old former 13th overall pick in 2022 out of Campbell is one of the best young rising shortstops in the game and should be returned to all fantasy lineups this week. He comes into Tuesday's tilt riding a .273/.316/.486 slash line with an .802 OPS, 12 home runs, 29 RBI, 46 runs scored and 13 stolen bases in 249 at-bats. In the last two weeks, Neto has gone 9-for-34 (.265) with two homers, two doubles, three RBI and a steal. |

Mon Jun 30 | 09:22 | Zach Neto Enters Sunday's Game Late and Plays Shortstop |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) missed his fourth consecutive start on Sunday after he injured his shoulder Tuesday sliding into second base. However, the 24-year-old appeared as a pinch hitter in both of Friday's, Saturday's, and Sunday's contests, which indicates that he isn't dealing with a serious injury. More importantly, on Sunday, he pinch hit and entered the game at shortstop, Jeff Fletcher, Angels beat writer reports. Although it has been difficult for fantasy managers to see their shortstop sit half of the week, it's highly encouraging to see him play shortstop after he pinch hit in every game over the weekend, suggesting that although he missed his fourth straight game, there shouldn't be an IL stint. Additionally, the game ended up going into extra innings, and Neto stayed in the game, proceeded to get a second at-bat, and even attempted a steal, further suggesting that his return to the starting lineup is imminent. In Neto's absence, Kevin Newman has been starting at shortstop for the Angels. |

Sun Jun 29 | 14:31 | Zach Neto Remains on the Bench |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Washington Nationals. Neto has been able to pinch-hit in each of the last two games, but is out of the lineup for the fourth straight contest. The fact that Neto has been able to come off the bench means he shouldn't require a trip to the injured list. The Angels have a scheduled day off on Monday, so hopefully Neto can return for Tuesday's contest. In the meantime, Kevin Newman will cover shortstop and bat ninth versus left-hander Mitchell Parker. |

Sat Jun 28 | 21:10 | Zach Neto Remains Sidelined on Saturday |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals. Neto is out of the starting lineup for the third straight game due to a shoulder issue. It's worth noting that Neto did enter Friday's game as a pinch hitter. Neto didn't play the field at all, but it sounds like he should be back soon. Kevin Newman will cover shortstop and bat ninth versus right-hander Mike Soroka on Saturday. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday for another update on his status. |

Fri Jun 27 | 18:52 | Zach Neto Remains Absent on Friday |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) remains out of action for Friday's series opener against the visiting Washington Nationals. Veteran Kevin Newman is making the start at the 6 and will bat ninth against Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin. Neto aggravated his surgically-repaired right shoulder when he jammed it sliding into second base on a stolen-base attempt on Tuesday and then sat out Wednesday's series finale against the Boston Red Sox. The 24-year-old isn't feeling good enough to return on Friday after a scheduled day off on Thursday. Neto avoided structural damage, so he could return to the lineup this weekend against the Nats. It's great news for one of the best young players in the game at the premium shortstop position. DFS gamers should be able to find better sleepers at shortstop than Newman, who has gone 15-for-77 (.195) this year with no homers. |

Wed Jun 25 | 20:11 | No Structural Damage for Zach Neto |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto's (shoulder) MRI exam didn't reveal any structural damage in his surgically-repaired right shoulder, and he's considered day-to-day, according to Bally Sports' Erica Weston. Neto aggravated his right shoulder when he jammed it during a stolen base attempt in Tuesday's extra-inning win over the visiting Boston Red Sox and was removed from the game. The 24-year-old didn't play in Wednesday's victory, but it's possible that he could be back as soon as Friday's series opener in Anaheim against the visiting Washington Nationals after a scheduled day off on Thursday. It's great news for the Halos and fantasy managers alike, as Neto is quickly becoming one of the best rising young shortstops in the game. The former first-rounder (13th overall) is currently hitting .278 (68-for-245) and is on pace for a 30-30 season. |

Wed Jun 25 | 14:10 | Zach Neto Not Playing on Wednesday |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Boston Red Sox, but The Athletic's Sam Blum reports that he's listed as available. Neto said that he was getting an MRI exam on Wednesday on his surgically-repaired right shoulder after he reinjured it on a slide in Tuesday's extra-inning win. Scott Kingery is at the 6 on Wednesday and is batting ninth against Red Sox right-hander Richard Fitts. It's good news that the 24-year-old Neto is available to play, but it doesn't mean he will necessarily avoid a trip to the injured list. The former first-rounder is on pace for a 30-homer, 30-steal season, so losing him for any amount of time would be a tough break for the Halos and fantasy managers. For however long Neto is out, expect Kingery and Kevin Newman to split time at shortstop. |

Wed Jun 25 | 01:02 | Zach Neto Exits Early Tuesday After Jamming Right Shoulder |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) exited Tuesday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Red Sox in the ninth inning after making an errant throw to first base. Per the Associated Press' Greg Beacham, Neto jammed his throwing shoulder on a stolen base attempt earlier in the game, and interim manager Ray Montgomery said that Neto was removed as a precaution. The 24-year-old went 1-for-4 with a single and two strikeouts before exiting the game. Neto missed the beginning of the season after having right shoulder surgery but has slashed a strong .278/.321/.494 with 12 home runs, 29 RBI, and 13 stolen bases in 262 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for more news, but it seems as though Neto is merely day-to-day. |

Sun Jun 22 | 14:18 | Zach Neto Absent on Sunday |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Houston Astros. This appears to be a rare rest day for Neto who has started in every game since May 26. He has been in a bit of a slump lately with only two hits over his last four games. It looks like a good time to give him a day off and let him recharge. Kevin Newman will cover shortstop and bat eighth versus right-hander Ryan Gusto on Sunday. |

Sun May 25 | 16:00 | Zach Neto Resting on Sunday |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Miami Marlins. This is a well deserved rest day for Neto who has started in 33 straight games. Neto has been extremely productive with the bat, which makes it difficult for the Halos to take him out of the lineup. The expectation is that he'll be back at shortstop on Monday. In the meantime, Tim Anderson will cover shortstop and bat leadoff against right-hander Edward Cabrera. |

Thu May 22 | 09:01 | Zach Neto Stays Scorching-Hot on Wednesday in Sacramento |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto continued his impressive delayed start to the season on Wednesday by going 2-for-5 out of the leadoff spot for the Halos with a home run, a stolen base, two runs scored, and two RBI. In just 30 games, Neto is already up to eight homers and eight stolen bases while hitting .283 and scoring 25 runs for the Angels. Over his last nine games, he is hitting a robust .316 (12-for-38) with four homers, three walks, a stolen base, and a 51.9% hard-hit rate, per Statcast. Neto's blend of power and speed in a premium lineup spot should make him a top-10 shortstop the rest of the season. |

Tue May 13 | 07:53 | Zach Neto Connects On A Two-Run Home Run In Halos Win |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto hit his fifth home run of the season on Monday night while going 2-for-4 out of the leadoff spot with two runs scored, two RBI, and a walk. The 24-year-old didn't get started this season until April 18 due to offseason shoulder surgery, but he has been excellent since joining the Angels' lineup. He is hitting .279 with five home runs, seven stolen bases, and a .368 wOBA. He has hit safely in 15 of his last 17 contests, with four of his home runs and all seven of his stolen bases coming during that stretch while he hit .319 with a .402 wOBA. Neto looks locked into the leadoff spot for the Angels and brings good dual-threat production from that spot in the lineup. |

Wed May 7 | 08:02 | Zach Netoâs Swipes Two Bags To Help Lift Angels To Victory Over Blue Jays |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto had a nice night in an 8-3 victory Tuesday over the Toronto Blue Jays. Neto finished 1-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases, and two runs scored on Tuesday. He picked up a single in the first inning before scoring on a Taylor Ward two-run homer. The 24-year-old also stole two bases in the victory, bringing his season total up to seven. Neto has produced well at the top of the Angels' lineup, hitting .290 (18-for-62) with a .323 OBP and a .888 OPS. His barrel percentage has also doubled in this young season, from 8.4 last year to 16.7 this year. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Neto while he's swinging a hot bat. |

Sun Apr 27 | 02:28 | Zach Neto Homers, Swipes Three Bags |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto showed off his power-speed combo on Saturday, going 3-for-4 with a homer and three steals in a 5-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins. Neto is now hitting .300 with a .990 OPS, five runs, three homers, five RBI, and three steals in 30 at-bats. The 24-year-old is only a week into his season as he returned from shoulder surgery on April 18, but so far, so good. He popped some impressive numbers last season, including 23 homers and 30 steals, and if the Angels' shortstop can build on those, he should be a stud in fantasy. Neto is still available in some leagues but should be rostered in all leagues now. |

Fri Apr 25 | 09:22 | Zach Neto Hits Go-Ahead Home Run On Thursday |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto blasted an eighth-inning home run on Thursday evening off of Chase Shugart to give the Angels a 4-3 lead and help them salvage a win in their three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The home run was Neto's second of the season, as he was just activated off the injured list on April 18. On the evening, Neto went 3-for-5 and raised his average to .238. The young shortstop is off to a nice start to the season, slashing .238/.273/.619 with two home runs, four RBI, and four runs scored in 22 plate appearances. Last season, Neto had a significant increase in power, hitting 23 home runs compared to his nine in 2023, so he will look to keep that rolling in this year and is off to a good start with a few home runs in his first week back. Next up for the Angels is a road test against the Minnesota Twins. Neto will look to keep things rolling. |

Mon Apr 21 | 09:31 | Zach Neto Hits His First Long Ball Of The 2025 MLB Season |
On Friday, Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto was reinstated from the injured list and hit his first home run of the 2025 campaign in the fifth inning on Sunday against future Hall-of-Famer Justin Verlander in the Angels' 5-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Neto finished his afternoon by going 1-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, and he helped the Angels complete their ninth-inning comeback by scoring the winning run on Sunday. The home run was an excellent sign for Neto, as he hit 23 home runs in 2024, a career high for him at the MLB level and a vast improvement from the nine he hit in 2023, his rookie season. Up next for the Angels is an off day on Monday before a three-game series at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates. |

Fri Apr 18 | 18:54 | Zach Neto Reinstated From Injury List, Will Make Season Debut Friday |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) has been reinstated from the injury list and will be batting seventh in the Angels' lineup in their matchup against the San Francisco Giants. Neto underwent right shoulder surgery in November and has progressed through a rehab assignment for the past few weeks. The 24-year-old will look to show his 2024 season was a strong showing of who he can be at the plate after posting a 112 OPS+ and a 5.1 WAR. Fantasy managers need to make sure to grab him off the waiver wire if available as he will certainly provide long-term value in all fantasy leagues. DFS managers may want to wait for Neto to shake off the rust before he can provide DFS value. |

Wed Apr 16 | 15:19 | Zach Neto Getting Close To A Return |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) went 2-for-5 with his fourth home run at Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday night while playing the whole game at shortstop. Neto is scheduled to play another full game at the 6 on Wednesday and could then be activated from the 10-day injured list as early as Thursday. However, the Orange County Register's Jeff Fletcher wouldn't be surprised if the Angels wait to bring Neto back until next Tuesday. The Halos wrap up their series in Texas against the division-rival Rangers on Thursday before heading home on Friday for a weekend series against the San Francisco Giants. At the latest, he'll make his season debut on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The former first-rounder has gone 13-for-45 (.289) in his 12 rehab games with the Bees and will be the Angels' starting shortstop when he's ready after hitting 23 homers and stealing 30 bases in 2024. |

Tue Apr 8 | 10:07 | Zach Neto Continues Strong Rehab Assignment |
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) is ramping up to join the team after offseason shoulder surgery. After missing spring training, he started his rehab last Tuesday and has gone 6-for-22 (.273) with two home runs, five RBI, four walks, and seven strikeouts in six games. He has progressed to the point where he is playing in the field after starting as just the designated hitter. On Sunday, he had both a home run and a stolen base. He's getting up to full speed and may still need more time, but a return in mid-to-late April seems realistic, which was a best-case scenario coming into the year. If he's available, he's a great stash off the waiver wire, and if he's on your bench, he should be ready to contribute sooner rather than later. |
