Sat Jun 718:49Denzel Clarke to Sit Out on Saturday
Athletics outfielder Denzel Clarke (shoulder) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. Clarke was forced to exit early during Friday's game after colliding hard into the wall while attempting to make a catch. As a result, Clarke will take a seat on Saturday and it wouldn't be shocking if he sits Sunday as well. Clarke is currently considered day-to-day with a shoulder contusion. In his absence, Seth Brown will cover center field and bat fifth versus right-hander Charlie Morton on Saturday.

Sat Jun 708:49Denzel Clarke Exits With Shoulder Contusion on Friday
Athletics outfielder Denzel Clarke suffered a left shoulder contusion in Friday's contest against the Mariners when he sprinted full speed into the wall while attempting to make a catch on a Jorge Mateo fly ball in the fourth inning. The 25-year-old made the catch but was replaced in the sixth inning. It was a violent collision with the wall, but he initially stayed in the game, so hopefully the injury is not serious. The former fourth-round draft pick was slow out of the gate when he was called up, going 1-for-19 (.053) over is first six games, but since then he's gone 9-for-27 (.333) with a double, a home run, three RBI, six runs scored, and three steals. Seth Brown replaced Clarke on Friday and could draw the start on Saturday. For now, consider Clarke day-to-day.

Thu May 2915:51Denzel Clarke, CJ Alexander Sitting on Thursday
Athletics rookie outfielder Denzel Clarke and infielder CJ Alexander will both take a seat for Thursday's contest on the road in Canada against the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre. Drew Avans is starting in center field and will bat seventh, while rookie Logan Davidson will man first base and bat ninth against Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios. Clarke, the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has had a rough welcome to the big leagues after recently being called up for the first time, going 1-for-17 at the plate with no walks and 13 strikeouts in his first five games. In two starts at first base the last two games with prospect Nick Kurtz (hip) on the injured list, Alexander went 0-for-6 with three punchouts. Avans has a hit in his lone MLB at-bat, while Davidson has gone 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in his first three big-league games.

Wed May 2806:27Denzel Clarke Snaps Skid on Tuesday
Athletics outfield prospect Denzel Clarke went 1-for-3 with a single and a strikeout during their loss to the Houston Astros on Tuesday evening. This was Clarke's first career MLB hit. The Athletics promoted Clarke prior to their contest on May 22 against the Philadelphia Phillies. However, over his first three games, the outfielder went 0-for-10 at the plate with eight strikeouts. Through his first four MLB contests, the A's have given Clarke the starting nod at center field. Earlier this season at Triple-A, the No. 5-ranked prospect in the system held a .286/.436/.419 slash line with eight doubles, three triples, and seven stolen bases. Given his role as the everyday center fielder, he is worth adding in all 14+ team formats as he carries solid speed upside.

Fri May 2306:24Athletics Promoting Denzel Clarke to Major Leagues
The Athletics are promoting outfield prospect Denzel Clarke to the major leagues. The 25-year-old opened the 2025 campaign by making his Triple-A debut and earned an early MLB promotion. Through his first 31 games with Triple-A Las Vegas, the outfielder has posted a strong .286/.436/.419 slash line with eight doubles, three triples, and seven stolen bases. He has shown a strong eye at the plate, holding a 29:23 K:BB. Last season, the No. 5-ranked prospect in the system spent his entire season at Double-A, where he posted a .269/.339/.445 slash line with 21 doubles, 13 home runs, and 36 stolen bases. Given his impressive speed and defensive skills, he could take opportunities from either JJ Bleday in center field or Tyler Soderstrom in left field. Fantasy managers in deeper five-outfielder leagues should monitor his playing as he could be a worthy target, if needing speed production.
