Fri May 919:14Matthew Lugo Headed To Major Leagues
The Los Angeles Angels are promoting outfield prospect Matthew Lugo to the major leagues. In a corresponding move, the Angels have placed outfielder Gustavo Campero (ankle) on the 10-day injured list. Lugo was in contention to make the Opening Day roster but fell just short in the competition. However, the former second-round pick has earned an early promotion. Through the first 35 games of the Triple-A regular season, Lugo held a modest .212/.292/.364 slash line with nine doubles and four home runs. Last summer, Lugo was very productive across stints at Double-A and Triple-A. Across 79 cumulative games, the 24-year-old posted an impressive .287/.376/.578 slash line 21 doubles, 17 long balls, and 16 stolen bases. For the time being, fantasy managers should expect Lugo to have a depth role in the outfield, which should only make him worth rostering in AL-only formats.

Thu Mar 2707:36Matthew Lugo Optioned To Triple-A
The Los Angeles Angels have optioned outfield prospect Matthew Lugo to Triple-A Salt Lake. Lugo was in contention for a spot on the Opening Day roster but will instead begin his 2025 campaign in the minor leagues. During spring training, the former second-round selection posted a .293/.328/.466 slash line with four doubles and three triples. He did not go deep and held an underwhelming 2:18 BB:K ratio. Last summer, Lugo spent his entire campaign at the Triple-A level. Across 79 contests, the 23-year-old posted a .287/.376/.578 slash line with 21 doubles and 17 home runs. During the 2023 campaign, Lugo held a lower .242/.297/.381 slash line across 83 contests with Double-A. Fantasy managers should monitor his progression at Triple-A, as he may not need much time before making his MLB debut.
