Wed Jul 2 | 10:16 | Connor Thomas Set to Undergo Elbow Surgery |
Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Connor Thomas (elbow) is set to undergo surgery in mid-July to remove a loose body in his pitching elbow. According to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy, the possibility of Tommy John surgery is still on the table for Thomas, so it appears this will be an extended absence for the 27-year-old. Thomas made his major league debut with the Brewers this season, throwing 5 1/3 innings with a 20.25 ERA and 2.63 WHIP. This elbow injury is a tough break for Thomas, as he toiled in the St. Louis Cardinals' farm system from 2019-2024 before finally getting his shot this year in Milwaukee. |

Mon Jun 9 | 16:52 | Connor Thomas to Undergo Elbow Surgery |
Milwaukee Brewers rookie left-hander Connor Thomas (elbow) had a setback after appearing in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on May 25 and will have surgery to remove loose bodies in his elbow, according to MLB.com. Thomas had been recovering from left-elbow arthritis and will now miss even more time. He initially landed on the 15-day injured list on April 8 and was transferred to the 60-day IL on May 18. The 27-year-old southpaw will now miss even more time, meaning he won't be an option for Milwaukee's bullpen until some point in the second half of the season, if at all. Thomas only appeared in two games in his first taste of major-league action earlier this year before getting hurt, and he allowed a whopping 12 earned runs on 12 hits (three homers) while walking two and fanning five in just 5 1/3 innings. |

Tue May 20 | 18:01 | Connor Thomas on 60-Day Injured List |
Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Connor Thomas (elbow) was transferred from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday with left-elbow arthritis, but as of early May, he was on a schedule that led to a minor-league rehab assignment starting on Wednesday, according to MLB.com. Thomas received an injection in his left elbow in late April, and although he's about to start a rehab assignment, the 26-year-old southpaw isn't particularly close to a return. He made his major-league debut with the Brew Crew this year before landing on the shelf and allowed 12 earned runs on 12 hits (three homers) while walking two and striking out five in 5 1/3 innings out of the bullpen. If Thomas can avoid a setback on his rehab assignment, he could be back in Milwaukee's bullpen in June, but he will remain off the fantasy radar everywhere. |

Sat Mar 22 | 14:42 | Connor Thomas Makes Opening Day Roster |
Milwaukee Brewers left-handed pitcher Connor Thomas has made the Opening Day roster. The Brewers selected Thomas in the Rule 5 Draft. During camp, Thomas has held a near-perfect 0.96 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP across 9 1/3 innings of work. Fantasy managers should expect the 26-year-old to have a role as a middle-relief option in the Milwaukee bullpen. Last season, Thomas spent his entire campaign with the Memphis Redbirds. Across 90 1/3 innings at the top level of the minor leagues, Thomas held a 2.89 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP. He tallied 79 punchouts and served up 24 free passes. This was a significant improvement compared to the 5.53 ERA and the 1.75 WHIP he held at Triple-A during the 2023 campaign. Fantasy managers in deeper NL-only formats should monitor Thomas' progression as he could be a viable target in deeper formats if he were to eventually earn starting opportunities. |

Thu Nov 16 2023 | 14:37 | Connor Thomas Outrighted By Cardinals |
St. Louis Cardinals left-hander Connor Thomas has been outrighted off the club's 40-man roster after going unclaimed on waivers following his designation for assignment last week. Thomas has yet to make his big-league debut and has largely scuffled in the upper minors over the last two seasons. After posting a healthy 3.10 ERA in 22 appearances (14 starts) at Triple-A in the 2021 season, the 25-year-old has posted a 5.47 ERA and 5.53 ERA over the last two seasons with 42 of his 49 appearances coming as a starter. He also saw his strikeout rate dip to just 15.7% in 2023 but he did put forth solid walk and ground-ball rates. He will look to get back on traffic with Triple-A Memphis in hopes of making his MLB debut in 2024. |
