Tue Jun 3 | 15:21 | Jorbit Vivas Sent to Triple-A |
The New York Yankees announced on Tuesday that they optioned infield prospect Jorbit Vivas to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to make room for infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) returning from the 10-day injured list. Vivas, the team's No. 19 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will head back to the farm after hitting just .156 (7-for-45) with a home runs, two doubles, four RBI, six runs scored, four walks and 11 strikeouts in his first 22 big-league games as a utility infielder. The 24-year-old saw action at second and third base due to injuries to Chisholm and Oswaldo Cabrera (ankle). For now, Pablo Reyes will stick around as a utility infielder for the Yankees, while Vivas gets more development on the farm. |

Thu May 22 | 16:25 | Jorbit Vivas Homers, Accounts for Only Offense on Thursday |
New York Yankees rookie infielder Jorbit Vivas was the only offense for either side in Thursday's 1-0 victory over the visiting Texas Rangers in the Bronx, with his solo home run (and first MLB long ball) in the fifth inning being the game-winner. The team's No. 19-ranked prospect, per MLB Pipeline, is currently in the strong side of a platoon at the hot corner with Oswald Peraza ever since Oswaldo Cabrera's season-ending ankle injury, but it hasn't helped fantasy managers much. The 24-year-old Venezuelan infielder was hitting .156 (5-for-32) with three RBI and five runs scored coming into Thursday's series finale. Whenever Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) returns from the injured list, there's a good chance veteran DJ LeMahieu will take over most of the playing time at third base in the Bronx. Vivas' homer on Thursday is nice, but he's going to need more where that came from. |

Fri May 2 | 12:22 | Jorbit Vivas Heading To The Bronx |
The New York Yankees are promoting infield prospect Jorbit Vivas to the major leagues. In a corresponding move, the Yankees are placing infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) on the 10-day injured list. Vivas has enjoyed an impressive start to the Triple-A regular season and is being rewarded with an early promotion. Through the first 26 games of the regular season, Vivas has posted a strong .319/.426/.436 slash line with five doubles, two home runs, and four stolen bases. Last summer, Vivas struggled during his first taste of Triple-A action, where he held a .225/.347/.366 slash line across 93 games. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should consider targeting Vivas on the waiver wire, as he could find a role at the keystone if Oswald Peraza were to continue to struggle in the batter's box. |

Mon Apr 21 | 15:56 | Yankees Recall Prospect Jorbit Vivas |
The New York Yankees recalled infield prospect Jorbit Vivas from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday and placed outfielder Trent Grisham on the paternity list in a corresponding move. Vivas is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the Cleveland Guardians, and he'll most likely just serve as infield depth in the short term until Grisham returns later this week. The 24-year-old Venezuelan will be making his major-league debut whenever he gets into a game. Vivas is considered the team's No. 20 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and he was hitting a strong .343/.432/.493 with a .925 OPS, two home runs, 14 RBI, four stolen bases and 12 runs scored in 20 games for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before getting the call-up. The left-handed hitter makes consistent contact and has the ability to hit 15-20 homers at the next level, but he'll likely head back to the minors later this week. |

Thu Mar 20 | 00:09 | Jorbit Vivas Optioned To Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre |
The New York Yankees optioned second base/third base prospect Jorbit Vivas to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday. The 24-year-old was having a nice spring, going 10-for-43 (.435) including a pair of doubles and a stolen base, but he'll have to bide his time in the minors for now. Previously part of the Dodgers organization, the Venezuelan played all of 2024 in the Yankees' farm system, with the bulk of the games (93) played at Triple-A. The batting average wasn't great at .225, but the left-handed hitter hit nine home runs, struck out at a less-than-average rate of 16.6 percent, walked at a high rate of 13.8 percent (.347 OBP), and stole 20 bases. If he can carry his spring momentum into the 2025 season, there's a good chance we'll see him in New York before long, and he's got the tools to be an intriguing waiver wire pickup in deeper leagues whenever that happens. |

Fri Jul 12 2024 | 13:02 | Jorbit Vivas Promoted To The Major Leagues |
New York Yankees second base/third base prospect Jorbit Vivas is being promoted to the major league roster, according to Andy Martino of SNY. In a corresponding move, J.D. Davis will be placed on the injured list with an undisclosed injury. Vivas has performed very well in his second look at Triple-A ball this season. Through 37 total games, the 23-year-old has posted a solid .258/.404/.424 line with five home runs, eight stolen bases, and 19 RBI. However, in his past 13 games, the infielder has been swinging a hot bat with an eye-catching .375/.474/.646 slash line. Vivas is ranked as the 15th-best prospect in the Yankee system on MLB Pipeline. He is worth adding in deeper leagues for now and could become a must-add in all leagues if he can carve out a full-time playing role. With Gleyber Torres and DJ LeMahieu struggling to find consistency at the plate, Vivas may claim one of these positions fairly quickly. UPDATE: Davis was put on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to July 9) with the stomach flu. |

Fri Jun 28 2024 | 14:15 | Jorbit Vivas Extends Hitting Streak To Five Games |
New York Yankees infield prospect Jorbit Vivas went 3-for-4 on Thursday evening with two singles and a home run to extend his current hitting streak to five games. During this stretch, Vivas has tallied at least two hits three times and launched two long balls. This is the 23-year-old first extended look at Triple-A, as he logged only 26 games at this level at the end of last summer. This season, he holds a solid .253/.400/.389 line with a 21:24 BB:K ratio compared to last summer, where he posted a .225/.339/.294 line with a 15:19 BB:K ratio. In addition, Vivas began the season on a cold stretch through April which has slightly negatively affected his ratios. Vivas has a strong chance to reach the major leagues in the second half of the season and could be worth a speculative add in AL-only formats when given the call. |

Tue May 24 2022 | 09:30 | Jorbit Vivas Producing Hits In Minors |
Los Angeles Dodgers second base prospect Jorbit Vivas signed for $300,000 back in 2017. The Venezuelan prospect has long been regarded as a talented hitter with great contact and an elite knack for putting the ball in play. Just 5-foot-10, Vivas has a good feel for the zone and his overall presence at the plate. He produces a quick swing and might just be the best pure hitter in the Dodgers system. However, his running and defensive abilities are less intriguing. Vivas is merely average defensively, explaining why he's destined for second base rather than a role on the left side of the infield. Still, the Los Angeles organization can always count on Vivas to log base hits, and this was especially true during the last week of minor-league action. The 21-year-old went 14-for-25 with eight RBI, three walks, and a whopping zero strikeouts. His lack of power is a con from a fantasy baseball perspective, but there's still a lot to like about his sound approach and tendency to log base hits. |
