Wed Jul 216:06Daysbel Hernandez Reinstated From Injured List
The Atlanta Braves announced on Wednesday that they reinstated right-handed reliever Daysbel Hernandez (forearm) from the 15-day injured list and optioned right-hander Kevin Herget to Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move. Hernandez tossed a scoreless inning in his lone minor-league rehab appearance and will now return to Atlanta's bullpen after missing a month with inflammation in his right forearm. The 28-year-old Cuban should return to a high-leverage relief role with the Braves in front of closer Raisel Iglesias, giving him plenty of appeal in fantasy leagues that score holds. Before his injury, Hernandez was a key reliever for the Braves with a 3-1 record and 2.22 ERA with 21 strikeouts, but he's also sporting a 4.07 FIP and 20 walks, so he's due for some serious regression if he cannot improve his command.

Fri Jun 622:53Braves Place Daysbel Hernandez on 15-Day Injured List With Forearm Inflammation
The Atlanta Braves announced on Friday that they placed right-handed reliever Daysbel Hernandez (forearm) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to June 5) with right-forearm inflammation and selected the contract of right-hander Craig Kimbrel to the active big-league roster in a corresponding move. The Braves also added left-hander Dylan Dodd from Triple-A Gwinnett. The 28-year-old was experiencing numbness in his right pinkie finger during Wednesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks and will now miss at least the next couple of weeks. The injury doesn't sound good, though, so the Braves could be without a key bullpen piece for a while. The Cuban hurler had gone 3-1 with a 2.22 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, 21 strikeouts and 20 walks in 24 1/3 relief innings. Hernandez was walking 7.4 hitters per nine innings, though, and his 4.06 FIP shows his 2.22 ERA is a bit of a mirage this year.

Thu Feb 614:27Daysbel Hernandez Could Fill Key Setup Role For Atlanta
The Athletic's David O'Brien writes that Atlanta Braves right-hander Daysbel Hernandez will get a chance to fill a key setup role in the bullpen that opened up when Joe Jimenez had knee surgery in October. As a result, Jimenez is expected to be out for most of the 2025 season. The 28-year-old Hernandez mostly pitched at Triple-A Gwinnett last year but had a 2.50 ERA with 26 strikeouts and 10 walks in 18 innings over 16 appearances at the MLB level. He held righty hitters to a .105 average (4-for-38) with 14 strikeouts, so he can definitely be a late-inning weapon for the Braves this year. In addition to those numbers, Hernandez totaled three wins and a hold. Pierce Johnson will likely be the top setup man in front of closer Raisel Iglesias, but Hernandez could be a nice sleeper for fantasy managers in deep leagues that count holds.
