Tue May 6 | 20:08 | Tyler Callihan Goes On 10-Day Injured List With Fractured Forearm |
The Cincinnati Reds announced on Tuesday that they placed rookie infielder/outfielder Tyler Callihan (forearm) on the 10-day injured list with a left-forearm fracture and recalled outfielder Jacob Hurtubise from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. The Reds also optioned right-hander Yosver Zulueta to Louisville and recalled right-hander Lyon Richardson from Louisville. Callihan's IL placement is no surprise after he fractured his forearm after crashing into the outfield wall in Monday's contest against the Atlanta Braves. The 24-year-old had surgery on his arm on Tuesday and is expected to be out for six to eight weeks. The former third-rounder had a hit in his first six big-league at-bats for the Reds as a reserve outfielder before suffering his serious injury. Until Austin Hays (hamstring) returns from the IL, the Reds could use Gavin Lux, ... [ More] |

Mon May 5 | 21:23 | Tyler Callihan Suffers Broken Forearm |
Cincinnati Reds infielder Tyler Callihan (forearm) was forced to exit early during Monday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Callihan suffered a broken left forearm when he collided into the wall while trying to make a catch in the third inning. This is terrible news as Callihan is going to miss significant time from this injury. He got called up to the big leagues last week and was only playing in his fourth big league game before suffering this injury. The organization should give a timetable at a later time, but fantasy managers in redraft formats should probably go ahead and look for another option. Callihan isn't going to be in the lineup anytime soon, which is a shame considering he's a promising young player that could be a legitimate contributor on this roster. UPDATE: Callihan is expected to need surgery on his broken forearm. |

Wed Apr 30 | 12:27 | Tyler Callihan Promoted To Major Leagues, Starting On Wednesday |
The Cincinnati Reds have promoted infield prospect Tyler Callihan to the major league roster. Callihan will also get the starting nod during the first half of their doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon against the St. Louis Cardinals. Callihan is slated to bat in the nine-hole and cover the keystone. The former third-round pick has enjoyed an impressive start to the Triple-A regular season and is being rewarded with an early MLB debut. Through 24 games, Callihan has posted a strong .303/.410/.528 slash line with four doubles, four home runs, and six stolen bases. The 24-year-old needed just 30 career games at the Triple-A level to prove he was ready for the big leagues. Fantasy managers should monitor his production as he could find a short-term role in the big leagues with Jeimer Candelario (spine), who hit the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. However, he is best to fade in DFS in his MLB debut. |

Thu Apr 10 | 07:10 | Tyler Callihan Stays Hot At Triple-A |
Cincinnati Reds infield prospect Tyler Callihan went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run during Wednesday's contest. This was Callihan's third home run of the season and third double. In this game, he also tallied two RBI and scored a run. Through the first 10 games of the regular season, Callihan has enjoyed a strong start with the Louisville Bats, posting a stellar .317/.417/.610 slash line. He has posted four multi-hit games and hit at least one extra-base hit in four games. The 24-year-old spent most of the 2024 campaign with Double-A before receiving a brief taste of Triple-A. At Double-A, the former third-round pick held a .271/.345/.413 line. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his production at Triple-A as he should be in the mix for a second-half MLB debut. |
