Fri Jun 2717:13Mark Vientos Officially Activated and Starting on Friday
As expected, New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (hamstring) was officially activated from the 10-day injured list and is starting in Friday's series opener in Pittsburgh against the Pirates and right-hander Mitch Keller. Vientos will be eased in as the designated hitter and will bat sixth in the order, with Brett Baty at third base and hitting behind him in the seven-hole. The 25-year-old Vientos broke out for the Mets last year with 27 homers and 71 RBI in 111 regular-season games, but he was hitting just .230/.298/.380 with a below-average .678 OPS, six homers, 21 RBI and 49 strikeouts in 53 games before his hamstring injury. An xwOBA in the 19th percentile and a 32nd percentile chase rate doesn't bode well for his chances of a rebound, but the power is certainly there. Vientos might need to pick things up to fend off Baty as the regular third baseman in the second half of 2025.

Thu Jun 2616:08Mark Vientos Says He'll Come Off Injured List on Friday
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (hamstring) said he will come off the 10-day injured list to rejoin the big-league roster on Friday before the series opener in Pittsburgh against the Pirates. Vientos should return to regular playing time for the Mets when he's back between third base and designated hitter. The 25-year-old went 5-for-28 with six RBI and four runs scored in seven minor-league rehab games with Triple-A Syracuse and will return to a .230/.298/.380 slash line with six home runs, 21 RBI and 22 runs scored at the big-league level. Vientos was a breakout star for the Mets in 2024 with 27 home runs and 71 RBI in 111 regular-season games, but he hasn't looked like that same hitter so far in 2025 with a strikeout rate in the 40th percentile and a chase rate in the 32nd percentile. He can still provide pop and RBI in a strong lineup, but the average is going to remain low.

Wed Jun 2517:31Mark Vientos Could Return From Injured List on Thursday
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (hamstring) could be activated from the 10-day injured list on Thursday, according to manager Carlos Mendoza. The Mets will decide on whether to activate Vientos for the series finale against the division-rival Atlanta Braves on Thursday or give him an extra day off after playing in the minor leagues on Tuesday and Wednesday. If Vientos doesn't return on Thursday, he should be back for Friday's series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 25-year-old has been out since early June with a strained right hamstring, but he's on the cusp of a return to the big leagues and should return to regular starting duties at the hot corner in Queens despite his slow start to the 2025 season. Vientos broke out in 2024 with a career-high 27 homers and 71 RBI, but so far he's hit just .230 (43-for-187) with six homers and 21 RBI in 53 games in 2025.

Mon Jun 2320:16Mark Vientos to Continue Rehab Assignment Through Wednesday
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (hamstring) is scheduled to play Tuesday and Wednesday on his minor-league rehab assignment at Triple-A Syracuse, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. Barring a setback, the earliest Vientos will return to the Mets' big-league roster will be for this weekend's series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 25-year-old was hitting a disappointing .230 (43-for-187) with six home runs, 21 RBI and 22 runs scored before straining his right hamstring, and he's gone just 2-for-17 with a double through four rehab games with Syracuse. Although Ronny Mauricio hasn't exactly taken advantage of extra playing time at the hot corner in Queens with Vientos sidelined, the two could form a platoon at third for the Mets once Vientos returns if Vientos can't get going at the plate.

Fri Jun 2018:43Mark Vientos Could Return Monday
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (hamstring) will continue to rehab his injured right hamstring with Triple-A Syracuse this weekend, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. If he gets through Sunday unscathed, he could rejoin the Mets on Monday. The club has gone almost three weeks without Vientos, who landed on the 10-day IL on June 3 with a low-grade strain. Brett Baty and Ronny Mauricio have manned the hot corner in Vientos' absence. However, both Baty and Mauricio have posted horrific production this month. Vientos looked like a breakout slugger during a 27-homer campaign a year ago, but he endured struggles of his own before going on the shelf. The 25-year-old has hit an uninspiring .230/.298/.380 with six HRs and 21 RBI in 208 plate appearances this season.

Sat Jun 1414:37Mark Vientos to Begin Rehab Assignment Early Next Week
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (hamstring) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse early next week, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. Vientos landed on the 10-day injured list with a low-grade right hamstring strain on June 3, continuing a disappointing start to the season for the 25-year-old. After bursting on the scene last year with 27 home runs and 71 RBI, Vientos has batted a mediocre .230/.294/.380 with six HRs and 21 RBI in 208 plate appearances this season. Brett Baty has been the Mets' primary third baseman with Vientos out, while Ronny Mauricio and Luisangel Acuna have also picked up starts. With Vientos likely to return in the next couple of weeks, the team could option either Mauricio or Acuna to Triple-A.

Wed Jun 422:11Mark Vientos has Low-Grade Strain
MLB.com's Anthony DiComo reports that New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (hamstring) is dealing with a low-grade hamstring strain. He will receive 10 to 14 days of treatment before restarting baseball activities, which means he won't be ready to return from the 10-day injured list when he's eligible, and we might not see him back with the Mets until late June or early July. The Mets called up infield prospect Ronny Mauricio with Vientos hurt, and he should see plenty of playing time at the hot corner in the next couple of weeks. In addition to his recent hamstring injury, Vientos has been a pretty big disappointment so far this year after breaking out with 27 home runs and 71 RBI in 111 games played in 2024 in his third year in the league. If Vientos continues to struggle at the plate when he returns, he could lose additional playing time in favor of Mauricio or even Brett Baty.

Tue Jun 318:39Mark Vientos Placed on Injured List
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (hamstring) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. Vientos suffered a right hamstring strain during Monday's win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. It's unclear how long Vientos will be sidelined, but hamstring issues usually take at least a few weeks. In a corresponding move, infielder Ronny Mauricio has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse. The expectation is that Brett Baty and Mauricio will split up the playing time at third base while Vientos is out. Between the two, Baty is the more attractive fantasy option.

Tue Jun 309:21Mark Vientos Dealing with a Hamstring Injury
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (hamstring) went down with an apparent hamstring injury in the 10th inning of his team's 4-3 win over the Dodgers on Monday night. After entering the game as a pinch-hitter in the designated hitter spot, he grounded out in his second at-bat for the third out of the 10th inning. He fell to the ground and stayed down for a minute before walking off with only a little help from the training staff. After the game, manager Carlos Mendoza said that Vientos was undergoing testing but that it "didn't look good." If Vientos is forced to miss time, prospect Ronny Mauricio could be called on to help fill in. Mauricio is hitting .323 in his 19 games in the minors this season with three homers, six stolen bases, and a .389 wOBA. He can play a variety of infield positions, and his multi-faceted potential makes him a great target in standard leagues if he gets to play in an everyday role for the Mets.

Mon Jun 218:57Mark Vientos Heads to the Bench
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This marks the third time that Vientos has sat out over the last seven games. Vientos has been struggling at the plate lately, so maybe some extra rest will help him get back on track. In his absence, Jared Young will serve as the designated hitter while Brett Baty covers third base versus right-hander Dustin May on Monday. Vientos remains worth rostering in most fantasy leagues, but that could change if he continues to lose playing time.

Sat May 3114:38Mark Vientos Sitting on Saturday
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos will get the day off on Saturday when they continue a series against the Colorado Rockies. Vientos has started in each of the past three contests. During this stretch, Vientos went 2-for-11 with a home run and seven strikeouts. During Friday's contest against the Rockies, Vientos went 0-for-3 with three punchouts. This will open up the hot corner for Brett Baty, who is slated to bat in the five-hole. Through 51 games this season, the 25-year-old has had an inconsistent start to the season, holding a .231/.300/.379 line with six home runs. Under the hood, Vientos has generated a low .298 xwOBA, .231 xBA, and a .377 xSLG, which are all well below the average marks. The Mets should be viewed as a top stack in DFS facing Colorado right-hander Antonio Senzatela, who holds a high 6.50 ERA.

Mon May 2615:17Mark Vientos on the Bench on Monday
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos will retreat to the bench for Monday's series opener against the visiting Chicago White Sox at Citi Field. Brett Baty is starting at third base and is batting sixth versus White Sox right-hander Adrian Houser. Vientos didn't play on Friday or Saturday against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to abdominal soreness, but he returned on Sunday to go 1-for-3 with a strikeout in the 3-1 win. The 25-year-old second-round pick in 2017 hasn't been nearly as good this year as he was during a 2024 breakout in which he hit .266/.322/.516 with career-highs in home runs (27) and RBI (71) in 111 games. Vientos only has five homers and 18 RBI through 48 games in 2025 but has hit .269 (18-for-67) with a homer and three RBI in his 20 games in May. Baty will be a DFS sleeper at third in a matchup against Houser, who he has a solo homer against in two career at-bats.

Sun May 2518:19Mark Vientos Returns to The Lineup
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (abdomen) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Vientos is back in the mix after missing the first two games of the series due to abdominal soreness. Luckily, it wasn't a serious injury as Vientos is back at third base and batting second versus right-hander Landon Knack on Sunday. Vientos has slowed down with the bat this month, but his upside is still enough to warrant rostering him in most fantasy formats.

Sat May 2418:47Mark Vientos Remains Out on Saturday
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (abdomen) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Vientos will miss his second straight game after being scratched ahead of Friday's contest due to abdominal soreness. It doesn't sound like something that will force Vientos onto the injured list, but he might sit out the weekend. On Saturday, Brett Baty will take over at third base and bat ninth versus right-hander Tony Gonsolin. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.

Fri May 2319:01Mark Vientos Scratched With Abdominal Soreness
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (abdomen) has been scratched from the starting lineup for precautionary reasons due to abdominal soreness in Friday's series opener against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers at Citi Field. Brett Baty will start at third base and at eighth, while Luisangel Acuna will play second base and bat ninth against Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw. It sounds like there's a good chance Vientos will return to action for Game 2 of the series on Saturday, although fantasy managers will want to check back tomorrow. Vientos has disappointed through the first third of the season after a breakout 2024 campaign, but he remains New York's starting third baseman. Even though Kershaw allowed five runs in his 2025 debut, Baty and Acuna will be unappealing DFS options in the lefty-lefty matchup at the bottom of the order.

Fri May 915:35Mark Vientos Getting A Breather Versus Cubs
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos is out of the team's starting lineup for Friday's series opener at Citi Field against the visiting Chicago Cubs. Brett Baty will draw into the lineup at third base and bat sixth against Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon. So far in 2025, Vientos has been unable to replicate his breakout season from a year ago. The 25-year-old right-handed slugger is sitting for the second straight game and is currently slashing an underwhelming .220/.301/.370 with a .671 OPS, four home runs, 15 RBI and 16 runs scored in 127 at-bats for the Mets. The good news, though, is he currently has a five-game hitting streak in which he's gone 6-for-19 with two runs scored. Baty, a former first-rounder in 2019, has yet to figure it out at the big-league level and has gone 11-for-58 (.190) with a homer and four RBI in limited action. The 25-year-old has never faced Taillon in his MLB career.

Wed May 714:39Francisco Alvarez, Mark Vientos Sitting On Wednesday
New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez and third baseman Mark Vientos are taking a seat on Wednesday when they play the final game of a three-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Alvarez has been in the starting nine in each of the past three contests. During this stretch, the backstop has posted a strong .444/.545/.444 slash line with one RBI. Vientos has been swinging a hot bat over his last five games, holding a .316/.381/.316 line and will be given a typical day off. Fantasy managers should expect both Alvarez and Vientos to return to the starting nine on Friday when they begin a series against the Chicago Cubs. This afternoon, Luis Torrens and Brett Baty will be behind the dish and cover the hot corner, respectively. The Mets are worth a look in DFS facing Arizona right-hander Merrill Kelly.

Sun May 412:52Mark Vientos Getting A Breather In Game 1 Of Doubleheader
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader on Sunday at Busch Stadium against the hosting St. Louis Cardinals. Luisangel Acuna will start in his place at third base and bat eighth versus Cardinals right-hander Erick Fedde. Despite the team's not playing on Saturday after the contest was postponed, Vientos will take a seat for the first game of the twin bill after starting each of the team's last 10 games. The 25-year-old is hitting just over .200 for the season with four home runs, 15 RBI and 15 runs scored, but he has picked things up of late, going 11-for-41 (.268) with two home runs, a double, triple, nine RBI and eight runs scored in his last 10 games since April 22. Acuna lacks much DFS upside near the bottom of the Mets' lineup on Sunday and he hasn't homered yet in 2025, but he's hitting a strong .289 (22-for-76) with four RBI, 13 runs and seven stolen bases.

Mon Apr 2821:22Mark Vientos Smacks Three-Run Homer
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos had a nice day at the plate during Monday's game against the Washington Nationals. Vientos has been hot with the bat lately as he took a five-game hitting streak into Monday's contest. He was able to single and extend that streak, but he also smashed a three-run home run off infielder Amed Rosario who was pitching in the ninth inning. It wasn't too impressive of a homer considering it was off a meatball thrown by a non-pitcher, but fantasy managers will take the points. Vientos is hitting over .300 during the last two weeks and deserves to be rostered in most fantasy formats.

Tue Apr 2215:38Mark Vientos Returns To Mets Lineup
New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (groin) is back at third base and is batting cleanup for Tuesday's contest against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Cristopher Sanchez at Citi Field. Vientos injured his groin on Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals and missed two games as a result, but he'll return for Game 2 of the series against the Phils and will be looking to break out of his early-season slump at the plate. The 25-year-old comes into Tuesday's game hitting just .167 (12-for-72) with two home runs, six RBI, seven runs and 14 strikeouts in 20 games played. He's also gone hitless in seven career at-bats against Sanchez, who has looked very sharp early on in 2025, so we'd suggest that fantasy managers keep Vientos on the bench for at least another day. Before going hitless on Saturday, though, Vientos had a six-game hitting streak, including both of his home runs.
