Tue Jul 100:42Shea Langeliers Hits Three-Run Homer In Return From Injured List Monday
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers (oblique) wasted no time in getting back to contributing offensively in Monday's 6-4 win over the Rays. Langeliers, who returned from the 10-day injured list after dealing with a strained left oblique, went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run. The 27-year-old got things going right away, lining a first-inning Drew Rasmussen fastball over the left-center wall to plate three. Langeliers picked up right where he left off before his IL stint and is now slashing .237/.299/.441with 11 HR, 30 RBI, and four stolen bases in 234 plate appearances. He won't provide much in terms of batting average but should provide plenty of power, especially in hitter-friendly Sutter Health Park.

Mon Jun 3015:18A's Reinstate Shea Langeliers From Injured List
The Athletics announced on Monday that they reinstated catcher Shea Langeliers (oblique) from the 10-day injured list and optioned catcher Willie MacIver to Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move. Langeliers will return as the team's starting backstop after missing over three weeks with a strained left oblique. The 27-year-old right-handed-hitting catcher went 8-for-13 with a home run in just three minor-league rehab games with Vegas and will be hoping to keep that hot hitting going when he returns to the A's lineup. Fantasy managers should expect him to start right away in Monday's series opener against the hosting Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Drew Rasmussen. Langeliers swings and misses too much to be a batting-average asset in fantasy, but he has above-average at the weak catching position and is already in double digits in homers with 10 in 207 at-bats.

Tue Jun 2419:33Shea Langeliers to Start Rehab Assignment on Wednesday
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers (oblique) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment on Wednesday with Triple-A Las Vegas, according to MLB.com's Martin Gallegos. Langeliers could be activated from the 10-day injured to return at some point this weekend if he avoids any setbacks with his left-oblique strain after a couple rehab games in the minors. The 27-year-old backstop has been out of action since June 6 with his injury, but he should immediately return to being the team's starting catcher once he's activated. Austin Wynns and Willie MacIver have been splitting playing time behind the dish in Sacramento with Langeliers sidelined. Langeliers isn't going to hit for much of an average for his fantasy managers, but he proved last year he has high-end power at the catching position by hitting 29 balls over the wall in 137 games. He has 10 through his first 56 contests in 2025.

Sun Jun 2208:33Shea Langeliers Takes Batting Practice
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers (oblique) was able to take part in batting practice ahead of Saturday's game. Langeliers looked good swinging the bat and was crushing the ball, so it sounds like he's making good progress. He's currently working his way back from an oblique injury that landed him on the 10-day injured list in early June. It's unclear if Langeliers is going to need a rehab assignment. Before going down, Langeliers was slashing .237/.300/.430 with 10 homers and 27 RBI this season. In the meantime, Austin Wynns and Willie Maclver will split up the duties behind the plate for the A's.

Thu Jun 1908:52Shea Langeliers Starts a Hitting Progression
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers (oblique) has started a hitting progression as he works towards his return from a left oblique strain that has sidelined him since June 6. Langeliers was hitting .237 with 10 home runs in his first 56 games this season with a .316 wOBA and 45.5% hard-hit rate. He is eligible to return from the injured list when he is ready, and it's great news that he started this progression. However, it isn't clear at this point if he will need a quick rehab assignment or come right back to the Athletics' major-league roster. When he returns, he'll step back in as the team's everyday catcher and be one of the better power options at the position. Until he's back, Austin Wynns and Willie MacIver will continue to fill in behind the plate.

Fri Jun 620:11A's Place Shea Langeliers on 10-Day Injured List With Oblique Strain
The Athletics announced on Friday that they placed catcher Shea Langeliers (oblique) on the 10-day injured list and recalled catcher Jhonny Pereda from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move. Langeliers injured himself in Thursday's game against the Minnesota Twins and will now be out for at least 10 days. Given the nature of his injury, though, there's a good bet that the 27-year-old's absence could extend longer than that and possibly into July. In the meantime, the A's will use Pereda and Willie MacIver behind the plate in Sacramento. MacIver is getting the start behind the dish on Friday and is hitting eighth against Baltimore Orioles right-hander Dean Kremer. For his power alone at the weak catching position, Langeliers should be stashed in fantasy leagues. He is hitting .237 (49-for-207) on the year with 10 homers, 27 RBI, 25 runs and four stolen bases.

Thu Jun 518:09Shea Langeliers Exits Early on Thursday
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers (side) was forced to exit early during Thursday's game against the Minnesota Twins. It's not exactly clear what's wrong with Langeliers, but he appears to have suffered a side or oblique injury during Thursday's contest. The expectation is that Langeliers will undergo further testing, so fantasy managers should get another update on his status. He went 1-for-4 with a double and a pair of strikeouts before leaving the game. Logan Davidson took over at the designated hitter spot for the rest of the contest.

Sun Jun 111:40Shea Langeliers Riding Pine on Sunday
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is not in Sunday's lineup when they conclude a series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Langeliers has started each of the past five games. During this stretch, the 27-year-old has gone 3-for-19 at the plate, with a double and a home run. Fantasy managers should expect Langeliers to return to the starting nine on Monday when they begin a series against the Minnesota Twins. This afternoon, the Athletics will give Willie MacIver the nod behind the dish. He will bat in the eight-hole. MacIver was promoted to the majors on May 23. Through his first taste of MLB action, the 28-year-old has gone 1-for-5 at the plate with one strikeout. Given his lack of experience, he is best to fade in DFS facing Toronto right-hander Kevin Gausman.

Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers hit his ninth homer of the season in a 7-5 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday. The veteran catcher has shown excellent power this season, posting a .256 average, six doubles, nine homers, 21 runs, 25 RBI, and three steals across 160 at-bats. With two straight 20-homer seasons under his belt, Langeliers has established himself as a high-end fantasy catcher moving forward.

Sat May 1023:51Shea Langeliers Powers A's Past Yankees With Five RBI
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers went 4-for-5 with a home run and five RBI in Saturday's 11-7 win over the New York Yankees. The Portland, Oregon, native singled twice and doubled in the contest to record his second four-hit performance of the season. With the A's trailing 6-4 in the bottom of the seventh, Langeliers stepped up to the plate and launched a Fernando Cruz splitter 418 feet to dead-center field to regain the lead. Then, in the eighth, he doubled in two more runs (108 MPH exit velocity) to bring his season total to 22. The 27-year-old is up to eight dingers on the season now, to go along with a .248 average (32-for-129), five doubles, and 17 runs scored. Langeliers has drastically cut his strikeout rate in 2025 (15.2%) with only a slight dip in average exit velocity. However, he's registered the hardest-hit ball of his career in the early going (114.5 MPH).

Wed May 715:04Shea Langeliers, Nick Kurtz Resting On Wednesday
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers and rookie first baseman Nick Kurtz will both retreat to the bench for Wednesday's contest in Sacramento against the division-rival Seattle Mariners. Jhonny Pereda will do the catching and hit ninth, while Tyler Soderstrom plays first base and bats second against Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo. Langeliers isn't going to hit for average (.227), but he has some of the better pop among catchers and currently has gone deep seven times in 119 at-bats this year. Kurtz, who tore up the minors to earn an early-season call-up, has hit a decent 11-for-42 (.262) in his first 13 major-league games, but he has yet to go deep after clubbing seven homers in 20 games for Triple-A Las Vegas. Pereda should be ignored for DFS purposes, while Soderstrom will be a popular play with a .300 average and a solo homer against Woo in 10 career at-bats. Soderstrom is tied for second among first basemen with nine homers this year.

Tue May 605:52Shea Langeliers Homers Monday
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers had a big night in a 7-6 win in 11 innings over the Seattle Mariners on Monday. Langeliers went 1-for-3 with a homer, two walks, and two RBI in the close win. The veteran backstop ripped a solo homer in the fourth inning, a shot with an exit velocity of 109.8 MPH. He later came back and added a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning. Langeliers is now hitting .226 with seven homers, 15 runs, 17 RBI, and one steal across 115 at-bats this season. His batting average is low but he is providing plenty of pop from the catcher position in fantasy this season.

Sun May 411:00Shea Langeliers Not In Sunday's Lineup
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is not in Sunday's lineup when the Athletics play the rubber match of a three-game set against the Miami Marlins. Instead, the Athletics will give catching duties to Jhonny Pereda, who will bat in the nine-hole. Langeliers has gone 0-for-9 at the plate during the first two games of the series. Fantasy managers should expect him to return to the starting nine on Monday when they begin a series against the Seattle Mariners. Through the first 29 games of the campaign, Langeliers has held a .223/.285/.420 slash line with six home runs. He has drawn walks at a solid 8.1 percent rate and has only struck out at an impressive 15.4 percent rate. Pereda is worth a look as a value option in DFS this afternoon, facing Edward Cabrera, who enters this game holding a high 7.23 ERA.

Thu May 112:33Shea Langeliers Absent From A's Lineup
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is getting the day off on Thursday in the series finale against the division-rival Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. Jhonny Pereda will do the catching for left-hander Jeffrey Springs and will hit ninth against Rangers right-hander Tyler Mahle. Langeliers will get a normal day of rest after catching each of the last four games. The 27-year-old right-handed power bat has hit .243 (25-for-103) with six home runs, 14 RBI, 14 runs scored and a stolen base in his first 27 games of 2025. After a stretch of three straight hitless appearances, Langeliers is currently carrying a three-game hitting streak. He's gone 5-for-23 with a homer, two RBI, a walk and six strikeouts in his last six games going into Thursday. Pereda will be a DFS sleeper to ignore against a pitcher that has looked great in the early going in 2025. Pereda has gone 4-for-17 on the season with no homers and one RBI.

Fri Apr 1816:49Shea Langeliers Back In Lineup On Friday
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is back in the lineup for the A's matchup on Friday night against the Milwaukee Brewers. Langeliers had the day off for the A's series finale against the Chicago White Sox. He'll face a tough matchup on Friday night against Milwaukee Brewers' starter Freddy Peralta. The 27-year-old has had a very boom or bust type season so far, making him tough to trust in DFS leagues even with his 145 OPS+. Fantasy managers should still ensure that Langeliers is in their starting lineup, though, as Peralta's volatility may give Langeliers a chance to go deep.

Thu Apr 1712:39Shea Langeliers Resting In Matinee Game
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is sitting out of Thursday's series finale against the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field. Jhonny Pereda will do the catching for left-hander JP Sears and will back seventh against White Sox right-hander Davis Martin. Langeliers will get a much-needed day of rest after starting the team's last eight games. The 27-year-old offers plenty of power at the weak catching position in fantasy, but he's probably never going to be much of a batting-average asset. He has gotten off to a .237/.338/.492 start in 2025 with an .830 OPS, four home runs, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored for the A's. Expect him to be back for Friday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers. Pereda will appear in just his 25th MLB game after debuting with the Miami Marlins in 2024. He has two hits in 10 at-bats in four games so far this year and will be a weak DFS play on Thursday.

Wed Apr 1606:25Shea Langeliers Homers In Win On Tuesday
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers had a big game for his team in a 12-3 win over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. Langeliers went 3-for-5 with a double, a homer, two runs, and two RBI in the winning effort over Chicago. The veteran catcher launched a solo homer, his fourth of the season, off Chicago starter Sean Burke in the third inning. It was a monster blast that traveled 409 feet with an exit velocity of 107.9 MPH. Langeliers is now hitting .250 with 10 runs and 10 RBI across 56 at-bats this season. After combining to hit 51 homers over his past two seasons, Langeliers is staking his claim as one of the premier power threats at the catcher position in all of fantasy.

Wed Apr 207:55Shea Langeliers Launches Second Long Ball Of The Season
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a two-run blast during their loss to the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday evening. Langeliers hit a single in his first at-bat off Chicago southpaw Justin Steele. Then in the third inning, Langeliers would take Steele deep with a two-run blast, which scored Brent Rooker. Since going 0-for-3 on Opening Day, Langeliers has posted a solid .267/.353/.667 slash line with two home runs, five RBI, and a 2:2 BB:K over his previous four games. Last summer, Langeliers enjoyed a career year as he went deep 29 times and held a .224/.288/.450 slash line. The 27-year-old generated a strong 12.8 percent barrel rate with a .456 xSLG. Even though he does not draw walks often, his elite power upside gives him significant value in all formats, especially at the catcher position. He will look to stay hot on Wednesday, facing Chicago right-hander Jameson Taillon.

Sun Mar 3014:32Shea Langeliers Sitting On Sunday
Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is not in Sunday's starting lineup when the Athletics conclude their opening series against the Seattle Mariners. Langeliers started behind the dish in each of the first three contests and went 2-for-11 with a home run, three RBI, and a 1:3 BB:K. As a result, Jhonny Pereda will get the nod behind the dish and bat eighth. Fantasy managers should expect Langeliers to return to the starting lineup on Monday evening when they host the Chicago Cubs. Last season, Langeliers enjoyed a career season as he went deep 29 times and added 80 RBI. He posted a .224/.288/.450 slash line. He generated an elite 12.8 percent barrel rate but posted a high 27.2 percent strikeout rate. Fantasy managers should continue to view Langeliers as a solid No. 1 catcher in all formats.

Wed Sep 18 202400:28Shea Langeliers Hits Two More Homers Tuesday
Oakland Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers continued to flex his muscles in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Cubs. Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a two-run HR. The 26-year-old drilled a first-inning Jordan Wicks fastball into the left-center seats to plate two and got Wicks again deep to left field in the fifth inning. Langeliers has provided expected fantasy value this season, slashing .220/.280/.448 with 28 HR, 54 runs scored, 74 RBI, and four stolen bases in 500 plate appearances. He won't help fantasy managers in batting average, but catcher is such a weak position that Langeliers' power contributions make up for it.
