Sun Mar 914:24Jared Young, Austin Warren Optioned to Triple-A
The New York Mets have assigned first baseman Jared Young and right-handed pitcher Austin Warren to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday. Young signed an MLB contract with the Mets earlier in the offseason. However, he will begin his 2025 season in the minor leagues. Last season, Young spent his entire campaign playing for Triple-A Memphis. Across 74 contests, Young posted a .285/.411/.506 slash line with 15 and 11 round-trippers. He last appeared in the major league during the 2023 season with the Chicago Cubs. Warren was claimed off waivers by the Mets during the winter. Last summer, Warren logged 10 2/3 innings in the majors with the Giants. He held a 1.69 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP. Across 23 frames at Triple-A, Warren held a 4.70 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP. Both players will be used as depth options for the Mets throughout the 2025 season.

Tue Dec 17 202401:19Mets Sign Jared Young To One-Year Deal
The New York Mets announced on Monday that they signed free-agent infielder Jared Young to an undisclosed one-year major-league deal. Young, 29, was a 15th-round draft pick by the Chicago Cubs in 2017 out of Old Dominion University. He made his major-league debut with the Cubs in 2022 and has a .210/.290/.435 slash line with two homers, eight RBI and 10 runs scored in 22 games played in his two seasons in the Show. Young hit well while at Triple-A Memphis in the St. Louis Cardinals' organization and for the Doosan Bears of the Korean Baseball Organization in 2024 to get himself another MLB deal heading into 2025. He'll be hoping for a chance to return to the big leagues next season but will most likely open the campaign playing for Triple-A Syracuse for depth at the position in case the Mets cannot re-sign Pete Alonso.

Sat Jul 15 202312:14Jared Young Takes A Seat Against Southpaw
Chicago Cubs rookie first baseman Jared Young is out of the starting lineup on Saturday against left-hander James Paxton and the visiting Boston Red Sox. In his absence, Trey Mancini will cover the cold corner and hit sixth in the batting order for the Cubbies. Young has played in only 17 major-league games in the last two seasons combined, and he's gone just 6-for-33 (.182) with a home run, two triples, five RBI, two stolen bases and seven runs scored in his first 11 games of this year. The 28-year-old left-handed-hitting Canadian has only had two at-bats against left-handers in the big leagues as well, so Chicago will continue to have him avoid southpaws on Saturday.
