Wed Jul 220:53No Extension Imminent for Cubs, Kyle Tucker
The Chicago Cubs are open to trying to sign outfielder Kyle Tucker to a long-term contract extension, but they aren't committing to serious contract talks until later in the season or in the offseason, according to The Athletic's Patrick Mooney. Tucker was acquired in a blockbuster trade last winter from the Houston Astros, and the original idea was that the team would try to win big with Tucker in 2025 and figure out the rest later on. "Kyle Tucker is a player you want to have for a long time," president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said. "He's been one of the best players in baseball this year. He does so many things well, and he's really had a significant impact on this offense. Certainly, you want to keep a player like that. You go into the negotiation wanting to keep him. But, obviously, you realize in some way that you must have your limits."

Mon Jun 1614:07Cubs Being Cautious With Kyle Tucker's Finger
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (finger) was absent from the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and manager Craig Counsell acknowledged that Tucker's recent sprained right ring finger remains a consideration. "It's there. It's not bad. But this was a chance to try to get him two days without swinging a bat," Counsell said. Since leaving on June 1 with his finger injury as a precaution, the 28-year-old sat out another game, subbed in as a pinch-hitter twice and started as the designated hitter three times. He was walked as a pinch-hitter in the 10th inning in Sunday's game. Chicago will continue to monitor Tucker's finger, but after a scheduled day off on Monday, he should be back in the starting lineup for Tuesday's series opener against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers. Tucker has excelled in his first year in Chicago and is a must-start when he's active.

Sun Jun 1512:51Kyle Tucker Resting on Sunday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker retreats to the bench for a rest day on Sunday against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field. It will be only the third time all season that Tucker finds himself on the bench to start the game. Seiya Suzuki is in right field and is batting third, while Justin Turner will be the designated hitter and bat seventh against Pirates right-hander Mitch Keller. Tucker hasn't done a ton offensively in the month of June, but he's still a must-start in fantasy every time he's in the lineup and has been one of the most patient hitters in baseball in 2025. The former fifth overall pick in 2015 is currently slashing .277/.387/.504 with an .891 OPS, 13 home runs, 43 RBI, 49 runs and 17 stolen bases. Suzuki has five hits and two RBI in 10 career at-bats against Keller and will be a strong DFS play on Sunday. Turner is hitting .200 in five ABs against Keller.

Tue Jun 1013:18Kyle Tucker Crushes Home Run No. 13
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in his team's 4-3 road loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. The 28-year-old added two walks and scored twice. Tucker got the Cubs on the board in the top of the first with a solo shot off Phillies starter Zack Wheeler, though they wouldn't score again until the eighth. It was his thirteenth long ball of the season. He notched his second run of the matchup in the eleventh when teammate Pete Crow-Armstrong doubled him home. Tucker has slowed down some in June, going just 5-for-21 (.238), but it was nice to see him go yard for the first time since jamming his finger last week. Despite the slight slump, four of his five hits in the month have gone for extra bases.

Thu Jun 516:07Kyle Tucker Returns on Thursday Against Nats
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (finger) is back in right field and is hitting out of the two-hole in Thursday's contest in D.C. against the hosting Washington Nationals and right-hander Jake Irvin. Tucker will return to Chicago's starting lineup after missing the last two contests due to a right ring finger that he jammed in Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. The 28-year-old left-handed slugger pinch hit in Wednesday's game against Washington and should now be returned to all starting fantasy lineups. Tucker has been outstanding in his first season with the Cubbies and has displayed some of the best plate discipline across the league while slashing a robust .283/.393/.522 with a .915 OPS, 12 home runs, 39 RBI, 44 runs scored and even 16 stolen bases in 226 at-bats. The former first-rounder in 2015 by the Astros has never faced Irvin in his career.

Wed Jun 416:37Kyle Tucker Out Again on Wednesday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (finger) remains out of the team's starting lineup as the series continues in D.C. on Wednesday against the hosting Washington Nationals. Tucker jammed his right ring finger in Sunday's series finale against the Cincinnati Reds and will miss a second straight game. Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (finger) is sitting out Tuesday's series opener against the hosting Washington Nationals in D.C. after jamming his right ring finger in Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. It's the first time the 28-year-old left-handed slugger will take a day off in his first year with the team. Seiya Suzuki is playing right field and batting second, while Justin Turner is the designated hitter and batting eighth against Nationals right-hander Trevor Williams. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Wednesday to see if Tucker is back on the field for the Cubbies. Sun Jun 118:21Kyle Tucker Avoids Serious Injury
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (finger) was removed early during Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. At the time, it seemed odd that Tucker was being removed because it didn't appear that he suffered any injuries. Later, it was revealed that Tucker jammed his finger at some point during the game. Luckily, the X-rays were negative, so Tucker is considered day-to-day. Before exiting, Tucker went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. The Cubs are off on Monday, so there's a chance that Tucker doesn't miss any time and plays on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should check back for another update on his status.

Sun Jun 116:39Kyle Tucker Makes Early Exit on Sunday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (finger) was forced to make an early exit from Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Tucker was replaced by Vidal Brujan in right field to open the fifth inning. At the time, it was unclear why Tucker was being pulled as he didn't visibly suffer any injuries. It's being reported that Tucker exited the contest due to a jammed right finger. That being said, fantasy managers don't have anything to worry about. This sounds like a minor issue and Tucker should be back in the lineup within the next day or two. He finished his day 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored.

Tucker went 4-for-7 with a pair of doubles, a home run, four runs scored, and three RBI in the Cubs' 18-run outburst against the Athletics. Time will tell if this big game indicates that Sutter Health Park will be a very hitter-friendly or if it was just that the Cubs had a great matchup against Joey Estes and the Athletics' bullpen. Either way, Tucker is off to a great start with the Cubs, with three home runs in his last three games. Sun Mar 3007:19Kyle Tucker Launches First Long Ball As A Cub
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker went 3-for-4 with a home run during their 4-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday evening. After tallying just two hits across his first four games of the season, the 28-year-old broke out of his slump in a big way. In the opening frame, he would hit a ground-rule double. In the third inning, he would hit a single on a soft ground ball. Then in the fifth, Tucker would hit a home run to right field, which also scored infielder Jon Berti. In the offseason, the Cubs acquired Tucker in a blockbuster trade that sent top prospect Cam Smith, infielder Isaac Paredes, and right-handed pitcher Hayden Wesneski to the Houston Astros. Tucker remains a must-start option in all formats and a top play in DFS in all matchups. He will look to stay hot on Sunday, facing Arizona left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez.

Wed Mar 1900:31Kyle Tucker Goes Hitless In Monday Tokyo Series Opener
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker did not have his first regular-season game with his new team go as planned. Batting third, the 28-year-old went 0-for-4 in the Tokyo Series Game 1 4-1 loss to the Dodgers. Tucker's poor start with the Cubs started before Monday, as he was slashing just .043/.233/.174 in 30 spring plate appearances. Fantasy managers should not put too much emphasis on numbers from such a small sample size, particularly for players with Tucker's track record. He has proven to be a five-category, first-round caliber player throughout his career. Despite missing a good chunk of the 2024 season with a shin injury, Tucker slashed .289/.408/.585 with 23 home runs, 56 runs scored, 49 RBI, and 11 stolen bases in 339 plate appearances. Fantasy managers still to draft should not shy away from Tucker as a top-tier fantasy pick.

Sun Mar 923:22Kyle Tucker Hits First Cactus League Home Run
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker finally collected his first hit of the spring season on Sunday, a solo home run in the third inning of an 8-6 Cactus League loss to the Giants. The left-handed hitter flied out in his only other at-bat during the contest. That brings his spring batting average to .048, now 1-for-21 with five walks and seven strikeouts. No need to panic, and it should not depress his outlook for the season, but managers who already drafted or were considering drafting the 3x All-Star would love to see him get on a roll as we head towards Opening Day. ATC projections foresee a 30/20 season for the 28-year-old, and he's worthy of a top 10 fantasy draft pick.
