Thu Mar 2707:43Yankees Assign Colten Brewer To Minor-League Camp
New York Yankees right-handed pitcher Colten Brewer has been assigned to minor league camp. Brewer was competing for a spot in the bullpen. During spring training, he posted a strong 0.90 ERA with a 0.90 WHIP across 10 innings of work. During this stretch, he tallied seven strikeouts and served up three walks. However, he fell short in the competition and will likely begin his season at the Triple-A level. Last summer, Brewer logged 20 2/3 innings in the major leagues and posted a 5.66 ERA with a high 1.60 WHIP. Across 120 career innings in the majors, Brewer has held a 5.10 ERA with a 1.74 WHIP. If the 32-year-old were to find his footing at Triple-A, he would contend to return to the majors. If he does return, he will likely be deployed in a low-leverage relief role.

Wed Dec 18 202414:20Yankees Sign Colten Brewer To Minor-League Deal
The New York Yankees signed free-agent pitcher Colten Brewer to a minor-league deal on Tuesday, according to a source. Brewer, who throws from the right side, spent the 2024 campaign with the Chicago Cubs and had a 5.66 ERA (3.12 FIP) and a 1.59 WHIP with 22 strikeouts, nine walks and his first career save in 20 2/3 relief appearances over 16 outings. The 32-year-old will now provide right-handed depth out of the bullpen for the Yankees going into the 2025 season. Brewer's season was cut short last year after he fractured his left hand while punching a dugout wall in frustration in early July. He started throwing to hitters in August and should be fully ready to go for spring training in February. Brewer is off the fantasy radar and has a career 5.10 ERA and a 1.74 WHIP with 114 strikeouts and 70 walks in 120 innings over his six MLB seasons.

Sun Jul 7 202416:39Colten Brewer Placed On 60-Day IL With Left Hand Fracture
Chicago Cubs reliever Colten Brewer (hand) broke his left hand after punching a dugout wall in disgust after exiting an appearance Saturday. He has been placed on the 60-day IL with the Cubs selecting the contract of Hunter Bigge from Triple-A Iowa as his replacement. Brewer is 0-2 this season with a 5.66 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 22 2/3 innings. Bigge had six saves at Iowa with a 0.77 ERA.

Fri May 17 202412:52Colten Brewer Placed On 15-Day Injured List
The Chicago Cubs placed right-hander Colten Brewer (back) on the 15-day injured list on Friday with a lower-back injury and recalled right-handed pitcher Porter Hodge from Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move. Brewer last pitched against the Pittsburgh Pirates last Sunday. In a middle-relief role for the Cubs this year, the 31-year-old has been solid for the team, posting a 3.09 ERA (3.20 FIP) and 1.11 WHIP with four walks and 12 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings out of the bullpen. In six years in the big leagues, Brewer has a 4.78 ERA (5.06 FIP) and 1.70 WHIP with a very mediocre 20.2% strikeout rate and 12.7% walk rate. Hodge, 23, was a 13th-round pick by the Cubs in 2019 and will be making his big-league debut when he enters a game out of the Cubs' bullpen.

Tue Jan 2 202420:29Colten Brewer Signs With Cubs
Free-agent right-hander Colten Brewer announced on his Instagram account that he has signed an undisclosed deal with the Chicago Cubs. Brewer made three relief appearances for the New York Yankees this past season and also spent time with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and the Hanshin Tigers of Nippon Professional Baseball. The 31-year-old will give the Cubbies some relief depth to open the 2024 regular season but he will be well off the fantasy radar. In five years at the major-league level with the Yankees, Boston Red Sox and San Diego Padres, Brewer has a 4.98 ERA (8.42 FIP) and 1.77 WHIP with 61 walks and 92 strikeouts in 99 1/3 innings over 84 appearances (four starts).

Fri Jul 14 202312:18Colten Brewer Headed To Japan
Right-hander Colten Brewer is expected to sign with a team in Japan after he was released by the New York Yankees last weekend. Brewer only made three relief appearances for the Yankees in his first year with the team in 2023, allowing four earned runs on six hits (three homers) while walking three and striking out four in 8 1/3 innings pitched. The 30-year-old was much better for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, posting a 1.35 ERA, 0.70 WHIP, six walks and 23 strikeouts in 20 innings over 15 outings (two starts). In his five big-league seasons, Brewer has a 4.98 ERA (5.28 FIP), 1.77 WHIP, 61 walks and 92 strikeouts in 99 1/3 innings over 84 appearances (four starts) with the Yankees, San Diego Padres and Boston Red Sox.

Thu Mar 30 202318:57Colten Brewer Added To Yankees Roster
New York Yankees pitcher Colten Brewer is being added to the team instead of being reassigned to the Tampa Bay Rays minor leagues. Brewer will be added to the Yankees' 40-man roster and likely the 26-man as well. He will act as the 13th pitcher for New York. Brewer pitched to a 0.00 ERA this spring but has a 5.04 career ERA, so he won't be called upon for high leverage situations for the Yankees and can be left alone for fantasy purposes.

Wed Jan 26 202216:00Royals Sign Colten Brewer
The Kansas City Royals announced Monday in a tweet that the team signed right-handed relief pitcher Colten Brewer to a minor league deal. Brewer has appeared in 81 games in the Majors since the 2018 season. He made his debut with the San Diego Padres and has pitched for the Boston Red Sox in each of the last three campaigns. Overall, the 29-year-old owns a 5.04 ERA and a 4.99 FIP with 88 strikeouts and 58 walks allowed in those 91 innings. He allowed four hits, four earned runs, and three walks in his only Major League inning in 2021. Brewer will give Kansas City some additional bullpen depth.
