The two-time All-Star boasts a 1.85 ERA with a 0.91 WHIP, 51 strikeouts, and 12 walks in 34 innings. |

Wed Jul 2 | 23:15 | Edwin Diaz Gets Four Outs for 17th Save |
New York Mets right-hander Edwin Diaz cruised to a four-out save in a 7-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Wednesday. Diaz entered the game with men on first and second base and two outs in the top of the eighth inning. He fanned Jake Bauers to wiggle out of trouble before pitching a perfect ninth with two more strikeouts. The 31-year-old threw 21 pitches (13 strikes) in his first appearance since last Thursday. After his numbers dipped in 2024, Diaz has returned to dominant form this season. Thu Jun 12 | 17:05 | Edwin Diaz Picks Up 15th Save on Thursday |
New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz bailed the Mets out on Thursday at Citi Field to help them sweep the division-rival Washington Nationals, but it wasn't easy. He was called on to clean up the mess that Ryne Stanek created in the top of the ninth inning when he allowed three straight hits to open the inning. Diaz walked the first batter he faced to load the bases and then gave up a hit to Josh Bell to cut the Mets' lead to just two. A wild pitch scored another run, but the 31-year-old right-hander got out of the jam to help the team win 4-3 with two groundouts to end the ball game. It wasn't easy, but Diaz got the job done and has only blown one of his 16 save chances on the year. He has given up just one earned run in his last 18 2/3 innings pitched and has struck out 42 and walked 12 in his 28 1/3 innings this season. Diaz remains an elite fantasy closer. |

Sun May 25 | 00:04 | Edwin Diaz Nails Down Save No. 11 |
New York Mets pitcher Edwin Diaz nabbed his 11th save of the season in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The hard-throwing righty punched out three batters over a perfect 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Diaz was summoned in the top of the eighth inning to protect a 4-2 Mets lead and struck out Mookie Betts with a runner on second to end the threat. The Mets' closer came back out for the ninth and needed just seven pitches to strike out Teoscar Hernandez and Freddie Freeman before inducing Andy Pages into a groundout. It's the seventh straight hitless outing for Diaz, and he hasn't allowed an earned run in over a month. He boasts an excellent 2.53 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with a 30:10 K:BB over 21 1/3 innings. |

Sat May 17 | 23:40 | Edwin Diaz Shuts Down Yanks to Secure Tenth Save |
New York Mets reliever Edwin Diaz fired a clean ninth inning in Saturday's 3-2 win over the New York Yankees to earn his tenth save of the season. He allowed no hits and struck out two in the perfect inning. The 31-year-old was summoned in the bottom of the ninth to protect a one-run lead after shortstop Francisco Lindor drove in Luisangel Acuna on a sac fly earlier in the frame. Diaz started by striking out Austin Wells and made quick work of Ben Rice before squaring off against the otherworldly Aaron Judge. After a seven-pitch at-bat, he finally got Judge to strike out swinging on a high fastball, and notably touched 100 MPH during the battle. After a shaky start to 2025, Diaz has been superb, ripping off eight straight appearances without allowing a run, and four straight without yielding a hit. He holds an 11:2 K:BB ratio over that stretch (8 1/3 innings). |

Tue May 6 | 14:42 | Edwin Diaz Notches Save No. 8 In Monday's Win |
New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz secured the team's 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Monday, pickingup his eighth save of the season in the process. The first batter reached base on an error, but was caught stealing for the first out, then Diaz coaxed a flyout and a strikeoutto end the game. The31-year-old hit a rough patch earlier this season and has battled through a hip issue, but has allowed just two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out 15 over his last eight appearances. For the season, the 2x All-Star owns a 3.86 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and a 7:22 BB:K over 14 innings pitched, and remains one of the top options at the position for fantasy. |

Sat Apr 26 | 21:26 | Edwin Diaz Strikes Out The Side |
New York Mets relief pitcher Edwin Diaz bounced back nicely on the mound during Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals. Diaz was forced to exit early on Wednesday due to a hip cramp, but had no lingering effects on the mound here. The right-hander took over on the mound with a two-run lead on Saturday. Diaz did walk a batter, but then he struck out the side to record his seventh save of the season. The right-hander has struck out multiple batters in six straight outings. During that span, Diaz has only allowed one earned run in 6 1/3 innings of work. He remains a must-have and must-start fantasy player in all formats. |

Sat Apr 26 | 12:44 | Edwin Diaz Wasn't Available Friday Due To Recent Usage |
New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz (hip) was injured on Wednesday during his outing against the Philadelphia Phillies and has not returned to game action since. Mike Puma of the New York Post reported on Friday that Diaz could play catch before Friday's game without any issues. However, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza elected not to use him in a save situation that night due to his recent workload. This is an encouraging sign for Diaz and fantasy owners, as it seems likely he will be available at some point either Saturday or Sunday, if not next week at the latest. Without Diaz available, Ryne Stanek blew the save for the Mets on Friday, as the Washington Nationals won in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the ninth. |

Wed Apr 23 | 17:14 | Edwin Diaz Leaves With Left-Hip Cramping On Wednesday |
New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz (hip) left his appearance early during Wednesday's extra-inning win against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies due to left-hip cramping, according to manager Carlos Mendoza. Diaz disengaged with the rubber for the third time and was charged with a balk in the top of the 10th inning to call out the training staff before he was eventually pulled. The 31-year-old right-hander retired the side in the top of the ninth inning in a 2-2 tie before going out for a second inning, which was the first time this year he has done that. Diaz recorded a strikeout but then gave up an RBI single before injuring his hip. Although the hard-throwing relieved didn't seem too concerned with the injury after the game, fantasy managers will want to check back on his status before Friday's series opener with the Nationals. If he ends up missing time, Ryne Stanek and A.J. Minter could share closing duties. |

Tue Apr 22 | 05:57 | Edwin Diaz Earns Save On Monday |
New York Mets right-hander Edwin Diaz secured a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday. Diaz pitched one inning while allowing one run and striking out two to pick up his sixth save of the season. It was a rocky inning for Diaz and the Mets as he allowed a three-run homer to Bryson Stott, with two of the runs being charged to reliever Max Kranick. Diaz now has a 1-0 record, 5.59 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts over 9 2/3 innings of work on the season. He remains perfect in six save chances, despite the ugly ERA. That being said, the longtime Mets closer has a firm grip on the closer role in the Big Apple. |

Thu Apr 17 | 23:34 | Edwin Diaz Secures Fourth Save |
New York Mets relief pitcher Edwin Diaz picked up his fourth save of the season on Thursday in a 4-1 win over the Cardinals. He struck out two and walked one in a scoreless ninth inning. It was his second straight scoreless outing since he gave up five combined runs in appearances on April 9 and April 11. His ERA still sits at an ugly 5.87 from those two outings and his six walks in 7 innings is less than ideal, but he remains one of the best closers for fantasy. He pitches on one of the best teams in baseball and remains elite at striking guys out, having 11 strikeouts so far in 2025. |

Sun Apr 6 | 18:15 | Edwin Diaz Secures Another Save |
New York Mets relief pitcher Edwin Diaz was called upon to hold a one-run lead against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. The right-hander had no issues as he tossed a scoreless ninth inning to record his second save of the season. Diaz needed only 10 pitches to finish off three batters as he allowed zero baserunners. It's nice to see Diaz settling down after he struggled with his command during spring training. Fantasy managers can continue safely plugging Diaz into their lineups on a daily basis. |

Thu Mar 20 | 12:25 | Edwin Diaz's Velocity Down This Spring |
New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz's velocity has been down during spring training games. The stadium radar gun had Diaz's four-seam fastball sitting between 93-95 mph during his Grapefruit League outing on Wednesday, while StatCast has him averaging 95.7 mph with his four-seamer this spring. That would be the 30-year-old right-hander's lowest velocity since 2020. However, manager Carlos Mendoza thinks Diaz's velocity will continue to increase as he approaches real games next week. Two years ago before Diaz injured his knee, he was averaging 99 mph in spring games. A rival scout watching Diaz on Wednesday said he doesn't look like "the same guy." He hasn't allowed a run in his last three spring outings, but his outings haven't been clean, either. It's possible that Diaz won't be throwing as hard as he used to, but it doesn't mean he still won't be an elite fantasy closer. |

Sat Feb 15 | 12:26 | Edwin Diaz Feels Great |
New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz told club officials that this is the best he's ever felt, according to The Athletic's Will Sammon and Tim Britton. "I made sure my arm was ready to go," Daz said. "And I feel great." Diaz wasn't able to have a normal offseason last year after missing the entire 2023 campaign due to a knee injury, and his arm wasn't exactly ready in 2024. Heading into his age-31 season, he can opt out of his contract with the Mets after this year. Beyond 2025, Diaz is guaranteed two years and $38 million. Diaz didn't exactly look like his pre-injury self last year and also missed time with a shoulder injury, but he did have a 38.9 percent strikeout rate, which was slightly down from his 40.1 percent career mark. Another year removed from his knee injury and while closing games for one of the best teams in baseball on paper, Diaz is an elite fantasy closer. |

Tue Oct 15 2024 | 12:07 | Edwin Diaz Strikes Out Three, Earns Save On Monday |
New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz earned a four-out save in Monday's 7-3 victory over the Dodgers, his second save of this postseason. The 30-year-old squashed a potential Dodgers rally in the eighth, coming on with two outs and two baserunners on, getting a flyout to end the threat. The ninth inning had its usual uneasiness for Diaz though, with the first two hitters reaching base, one via hit and one via walk, but Diaz settled down and struck out the next three hitters to close the door on Los Angeles. The veteran closer will want to clean up the 1.93 WHIP through four 2024 postseason appearances to better the Mets' chances of moving on, but 10 strikeouts in four-and-two-thirds IP certainly helps limit potential damage. |

Fri Oct 4 2024 | 01:39 | Edwin Diaz Used Early In Game 3, Picks Up Win |
New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz picked up his first win of the postseason on Thursday, tossing 1 innings against the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of their Wild Card series. Diaz came in after Jose Butto gave up back-to-back homers and put the Mets down 2-0. He got the next five outs and set the stage for a big comeback in the top of the ninth. Diaz did end up throwing 39 pitches in this one, so his availability for Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies could be up in the air. It is the postseason though, so if Diaz is needed, he will probably be ready to go. |

Wed Jul 31 2024 | 00:32 | Edwin Diaz Notches Four-Out Save Tuesday |
New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz picked up his 13th save of the season in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Twins. Diaz came in to pitch the top of the eighth inning up by two with two outs and runners on first and second. He struck out Byron Buxton to end the frame and stayed on to pitch the ninth, delivering a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout. The 30-year-old has been disappointing by his standards for fantasy, but he has been much better from June onward. This has started to reflect in his season numbers, as he has now converted 13 of 18 save opportunities with a 3.77 ERA, a 12.48 K/9 rate, and a 3.48 BB/9 rate in 31 innings pitched. He has been one of fantasy's top closers throughout his career, and he is starting to show those skills again. |

Tue Jul 23 2024 | 00:14 | Edwin Diaz Earns 12th Save Monday |
New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz picked up his 12th save of the season in Monday's 6-4 win over the Marlins. Diaz came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by three. He got the first out on a strikeout, loaded the bases on two singles and a walk, got the second out on an RBI groundout, and ended the game with a pop-out. The 30-year-old has been disappointing by his standards this season, blowing five save opportunities with a 4.08 ERA, a 12.24 K/9 rate, and a 3.45 BB/9 rate. However, he has been much better since returning from the injured list in mid-June, allowing one run in 10 appearances while converting seven save opportunities. |

Sat Jul 13 2024 | 09:25 | Edwin Diaz Notches 10th Save Friday |
New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning in Friday's 7-6 win over the Rockies, although it wasn't without drama. The 30-year-old walked two batters in the inning before recording the final out on his way to earning his 10th save of the season. While it has been a rollercoaster of a season for the righty, he's been relatively solid over the last month despite the suspension, collecting five saves and allowing just three hits and three walks while striking out seven in six-and-two-thirds innings of work since June 13 (seven appearances). |

Wed Jul 10 2024 | 00:22 | Edwin Diaz Earns One-Out Save Tuesday |
New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz picked up his ninth save of the season in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Nationals. Diaz came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by three with two outs and a runner on first. The runner advanced to second on defensive indifference and scored on a wild pitch. However, Diaz then shut the door by striking out CJ Abrams. The 30-year-old was considered one of fantasy's top closers for this season, but he has dealt with a banned-substance suspension and a shoulder injury earlier in the season. He has only converted nine of 14 save opportunities with a 4.21 ERA, a 12.62 K/9 rate, and a 2.81 BB/9 rate. While he has disappointed overall, Diaz has been a top-tier fantasy closer throughout his career and has not allowed a run since returning from his suspension in the middle of June. |
