Thu Jul 3 | 17:19 | Yankees Interested in Ryan McMahon? |
The New York Post's Jon Heyman writes that the New York Yankees are fielding trade calls for a first baseman with the July 31 trade deadline approaching, and they have expressed interest in Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon. Their current third baseman, Jazz Chisholm Jr., has arguably been their second-best offensive player this year behind Aaron Judge and has 14 home runs, 36 RBI, 33 runs scored and 10 stolen bases despite missing time with an injury. However, Heyman says that the Yankees know Chisholm belongs at the keystone, where he's Gold Glove-caliber. DJ LeMahieu prefers second base over third base, but he's not the same player that won multiple batting titles. The 36-year-old veteran is hitting .254 with only two home runs and 12 RBI in 118 at-bats. McMahon is hitting just .216 on the year but has 12 homers and would be an upgrade over LeMahieu in the lineup. |

Wed Jun 18 | 14:11 | Hunter Goodman, Ryan McMahon on the Bench Against Nationals |
Colorado Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman and third baseman Ryan McMahon will start Wednesday's game against the hosting Washington Nationals on the bench. Braxton Fulford will do the catching and bat ninth, while Orlando Arcia will start at the hot corner and hit sixth against Nationals left-hander Mitchell Parker. Goodman will get a much-needed day of rest after starting 13 of the team's last 14 games. The 25-year-old backstop is having a breakout season in Colorado and is sporting a .285/.326/.522 slash line with an .849 OPS, 14 homers, 46 RBI and 38 runs scored in 270 at-bats. McMahon, meanwhile, has disappointed with a .222 average (55-for-248) with 11 homers and 24 RBI on the year. DFS managers will want to stay away from both Arcia and Fulford as sleepers. Arcia has one hit in four career at-bats against Parker. |

Fri Jun 13 | 23:05 | Ryan McMahon Has Big Night in Defeat |
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon delivered a stellar showing in the team's 12-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Friday. McMahon went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, a walk, and three RBI to continue putting a slow start to his season in the rear-view mirror. The 30-year-old was hitting a dismal .147/.273/.235 at the end of April, but the proverbial light bulb went on at the beginning of May. McMahon is now slashing a respectable .226/.342/.400 with nine homers, 22 RBI, a career-high 14.7% walk rate in 272 plate appearances. With an exit velocity that ranks in the league's 98th percentile and a .354 xwOBA, McMahon looks likely to reach the 20-HR mark for the fifth year in a row. |

Tue May 20 | 15:06 | Ryan McMahon Out Against Lefty |
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon will retreat to the bench for Tuesday's contest against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies at Coors Field with left-hander Jesus Luzardo on the bump. Aaron Schunk will take over at third and will hit ninth in the batting order. McMahon is hitless in six career at-bats against Luzardo and has gone 8-for-50 (.160) with one of his six homers and 20 strikeouts against southpaws in 2025. The lefty hitter has been hot in May, going 17-for-57 (.298) with four homers, three doubles, a triple, seven RBI, one steal and 13 runs scored in 17 games played. He should be back in action on Wednesday. Schunk won't be very attractive as a sleeper in DFS at the bottom of the order against a strong pitcher, even at hitter-friendly Coors Field. He's hit 5-for-20 in 2025 with no homers and a run scored as a bench player. |

Thu May 8 | 02:28 | Ryan McMahon Homers, Reaches Base Five Times |
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon had a massive day at the dish on Wednesday, going 4-for-4 with a homer, two doubles, and a walk. McMahon crushed a two-run shot in the first inning and also came around to score in the third. The 30-year-old veteran was off to an extremely slow start this year, but appears to be coming around in May, where he is 8-for-17 with two homers and five RBI. Even with that, he is still hitting just .193 with 13 runs scored, four homers, nine RBI, and a stolen base this season. McMahon is only a deep league option at this point, although he has some utility as a streamer when the Rockies play all home games in a given week. |

Fri May 2 | 09:36 | Ryan McMahon Hits A Home Run On Thursday |
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon swatted his third home run of the season in the seventh inning against future Hall-of-Famer Justin Verlander. The home run was a solo shot, bringing the Rockies within one run of the San Francisco Giants. The Rockies then scored two more runs in the eighth inning off of Tyler Rogers to walk away with the 4-3 victory. It's been a struggle for McMahon in 2025, as he's slashing an ugly .152/.280/.267 with three home runs, nine runs scored, and five RBI to go with one stolen base. McMahon is a career .240 hitter, so fantasy managers who have held on this long should see some progression as we get closer to summer in Coors Field. Thursday's game against the Giants was the first of a four-game series, so they have three games left on the road before they start a six-game homestand on Tuesday. |

Sun Apr 6 | 09:44 | Ryan McMahon Hits Home Run No. 1 On Saturday |
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's 7-4 loss to the Athletics. It was the first home run of the season for the former All-Star and first multi-hit effort since Opening Day. The left-handed hitter has a .267/.303/.400 slash line with a .304 wOBA and 83 wRC+ through eight games. It's still early, so hopefullyhe can improve upon the 2:12 BB:K he's currently registering. The 30-year-old has been very durable, playing in at least 141 games every season since 2019 (excluding 2020), and has produced at least 20 home runs in each of those seasons, but always seems to leave fantasy managers feeling a little empty with not one of those seasons coming in any higher than a 97 wRC+. Nevertheless, he is probably worthy of at least a bench spot in most 12-team leagues, and fantasymanagers will hope he can contribute on the days he is needed in the lineup. |

Wed Sep 18 2024 | 12:31 | Ryan McMahon, Charlie Blackmon, Nolan Jones Out On Wednesday |
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon and outfielders Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Jones are all out of the lineup for Wednesday's series finale at Coors Field against the division-rival Arizona Diamondbacks with left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez on the bump. Aaron Schunk will start at third and hit out of the nine-hole, Sam Hilliard will start in left and bat seventh, and catcher Jacob Stallings will be the designated hitter and bat fifth. Hunter Goodman is catching and hitting sixth. Hilliard has hit .250 (27-for-108) in his return to the Rockies this year with eight homers and 23 RBI in 49 games played. Stallings has hit .260 (59-for-227) with a career-high nine homers in 76 games, and Schunk has hit just .194 (14-for-72) with one homer and three RBI in his first 32 big-league games. None of Colorado's replacements are particularly attractive DFS sleepers, even at Coors Field. |

Wed Aug 14 2024 | 14:01 | Ryan McMahon Sitting Out In Series Finale |
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the hosting Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Aaron Schunk will make the start at the hot corner and will bat ninth against Diamondbacks left-hander Jordan Montgomery. McMahon will get a day of rest with Arizona throwing a southpaw after going hitless in eight at-bats with four strikeouts in the first two games of the series in the desert. The 29-year-old left-handed slugger was named to his first All-Star squad this year, but he's struggled since the Midsummer Classic and has gone 4-for-38 (.105) with two doubles, three RBI, a stolen base and 18 strikeouts in 11 games. The rookie Schunk has gone 7-for-41 (.171) in his first 20 big-league games and is still searching for his first home run. |

Sat Jul 27 2024 | 16:16 | Charlie Blackmon, Ryan McMahon Out Of Rockies' Lineup Saturday |
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon and third baseman Ryan McMahon will head to the bench Saturday afternoon against the San Francisco Giants. The usual catcher, Elias Diaz, will DH and bat fifth, while rookie Aaron Schunk gets a start at third base and will bat ninth. The Rockies and Giants play two games today, so expect both Blackmon and McMahon to be in the lineup for the nightcap, unless they are traded. Blackmon is hitting .256 with seven home runs, 34 RBI, five stolen bases and 42 runs scored in 2024. McMahon is hitting .267 with 15 home runs, 47 RBI, three stolen bases and 50 runs scored. |

Fri Jul 26 2024 | 15:52 | Rockies Telling Teams Ryan McMahon Won't Be Traded |
The Colorado Rockies have told MLB teams that All-Star third baseman Ryan McMahon won't be moved at this year's trade deadline, according to a source. McMahon made the All-Star squad for the first time in his eight-year career in 2024 and is currently hitting .270/.355/.447 with a career-best .802 OPS, 15 home runs, 47 RBI and 50 runs scored in 99 games for the last-place Rockies. His trade value will probably never be higher, and he's also under contract in Colorado through the 2028 season. Apparently the Rockies want to build around the 29-year-old left-handed-hitting infielder for years to come. McMahon resides in one of the most hitter-friendly parks in baseball in Coors Field, so staying in Colorado is probably best for his fantasy value for the rest of the 2024 campaign and beyond. |

Wed Jul 24 2024 | 14:14 | Ryan McMahon Returns For Rockies |
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon (finger) is back at third base and is hitting cleanup for the Rockies in Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Boston Red Sox and right-hander Nick Pivetta. McMahon will return to action after missing Tuesday's contest due to a jammed finger that he suffered in Monday's season opener. Fantasy managers will want to get the 29-year-old left-handed swinger back in their starting lineups at Coors Field. The first-time All-Star heads into Wednesday's contest hitting .267/.389/.333 with four doubles, three RBI, 11 walks, 18 strikeouts and five runs scored in 17 games so far in the month of July. McMahon has been an on-base machine but hasn't gone deep since June 22. Still, he's on pace to set a new career-high in long balls if he can stay healthy the rest of the way. |

Tue Jul 23 2024 | 18:12 | Ryan McMahon Remains Out On Tuesday |
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon (finger) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Boston Red Sox. The lefty slugger will miss his second straight game after jamming his finger over the weekend. The assumption is that this is a minor injury and McMahon should be considered as day-to-day. Aaron Schunk will get another start at the hot corner and bat ninth versus right-hander Cooper Criswell. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly. |

Mon Jul 22 2024 | 18:55 | Ryan McMahon Sitting Out On Monday |
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon (hand) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Boston Red Sox. McMahon was a late addition to Sunday's contest and he jammed his finger during that game. As a result, McMahon will take a seat with what is believed to be a minor finger issue. Aaron Schunk will get the nod at third base and bat ninth versus right-hander Tanner Houck. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups with McMahon taking the night off. |

Fri Jul 12 2024 | 12:25 | Rockies Not Motivated To Move Ryan McMahon |
The Colorado Rockies will sell at this year's trade deadline, and it appears the players most likely to be traded are catcher Elias Diaz and starting pitchers Austin Gomber and Cal Quantrill. A lot of teams have shown interest in third baseman Ryan McMahon, who is signed through 2027, but the Rockies are not motivated to move him. They are open to trading any of their relief pitchers as well. Colorado is currently 33-61, which places them 22 games back in the National League West and 15 games back of the third and final wild-card spot in the NL. It makes sense as to why the Rockies would be hesitant to part ways with McMahon. The 29-year-old former second-rounder in 2013 is an All-Star for the first time in his career in 2024 and is currently batting .272/.349/.450 with 14 homers, 45 RBI and 48 runs scored in 92 games. |

Mon Jun 3 2024 | 16:25 | Ryan McMahon Resting Against A Lefty |
With Cincinnati Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott taking the mound against the hosting Colorado Rockies on Monday night, second baseman Ryan McMahon will get the day off for Colorado. It's just the second time all season that McMahon won't be in the starting lineup for the Rockies. The 29-year-old left-handed hitter is slashing a solid .284/.371/.470 with an .841 OPS, 10 home runs, 34 RBI and 29 runs scored in 215 at-bats and 58 games so far in 2024. He's actually been better against southpaws, going 23-for-68 (.338) with four of his 10 home runs against them. McMahon could use a breather, though, as he's hitting just .191 (8-for-42) with three homers and nine RBI in the last two weeks. Alan Trejo is starting at the keystone and hitting ninth for the Rockies on Monday against Abbott. Trejo has only four hits in 37 at-bats this year and should be avoided for DFS play. |

Sun May 12 2024 | 10:26 | Ryan McMahon Collects Four Hits Saturday |
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Rangers. While all four hits were singles, the 29-year-old is having a fine season so far, slashing .303/.391/.462 with five home runs, 21 RBI, and 16 runs scored. The former second-round MLB draft pick has a strong 14.1% Barrel% and is walking at a good rate (12.9%). A .419 BABIP is unsustainable and suggests his batting average will see a decline, but a solid season like he's seen the prior three years with 20-plus home runs and a .250-.260 range for batting average looks likely again. |

Fri May 3 2024 | 22:06 | Ryan McMahon Blasts Solo Shot On Friday Night |
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon went 2-for-5 and hit a solo shot in the Rockies' 3-2 win against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday. The solo shot was McMahon's fifth homer of the season, and he's now hitting for a .920 OPS on the season. This would be the best mark of the lefty's career. Fantasy managers weary of starting McMahon on the road should note that the 29-year-old is hitting for a higher OPS on the road (.956) than he is at Coors Field (.878). That may be put to the test on Saturday, though, as McMahon gets a matchup against dominant Pirates rookie Jared Jones. |

Fri Apr 12 2024 | 16:53 | Ryan McMahon Batting Second On Friday |
Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon, a player who has been swinging a hot bat to begin the season, will be batting in the two-hole as they begin a three-game series in Toronto against the Blue Jays. McMahon boasts an impressive .383/.464.553 stat line with two home runs and nine RBI. Usually batting third, fourth, or fifth when facing a right-handed pitcher, McMahon will move up in the lineup tonight. However, he faces a difficult matchup as he takes on Toronto ace Kevin Gausman. Gausman's two previous starts have looked very different as he shut down the Rays but got chased out of the game by the Yankees. McMahon may be a sneaky play tonight in DFS, as many may choose to overlook him simply due to the matchup. |

Fri Apr 5 2024 | 21:42 | Ryan McMahon Hits Walk-Off Grand Slam In Home Opener |
Colorado Rockies third basemanRyan McMahonhit a walk-off grand slam against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday, leading the Rockies to a 10-6 victory in their home opener. McMahon had a considerable day overall, going 3-5 with a double and a single, in addition to hitting the game-winning grand slam. The 29-year-old has been one of the few bright spots for the Rockies this season, now hitting .414 (12-for-29) with a 1.057 OPS over eight games. The lefty slugger has recorded a hit in seven of the Rockies' eight games this season, marking an improvement from past seasons when he was generally a .240 hitter. McMahon will look to continue his hot streak with his next five games being played at Coors Field. |
